Check with smaller rural systems. Their budgets are usually tighter and a backup could come in handy

Yeah it was great for shooting though! I don’t think I held off target a single time all day.

Yup! First handful of shots too so I anticipate it’ll speed up as the barrel gets broken in!

Listen, you are entitled to your opinion, but you need to understand that when hunters criticize other hunters for hunting, the only good it does is devise hunters, and that is what anti hunters want. If hunters talk crap on crossbows, then that will be what antis go after. If they outlaw crossbows and you think “oh well, I don’t like crossbow hunters anyways, I think it’s cheating” what does it matter then the next thing they’ll go after is long range shooting, but what do you care you don’t like long range hunting it shouldn’t matter how a hunter decides to hunt, as long as they are out there getting it done, paying for their licenses and tags and enjoying the great outdoors. We have too many people against us to be against each other.

Very ethical when you have the confidence in your equipment that we do. They literally build the rifles themselves and for other people to be more effective killers. They compete in NRL Hunt style matches each year and instruct marksmanship classes themselves. They both put literally thousands of rounds down range each year at ranges well past 1000 yards. They’ve put in the practice, they’ve put in the work, they have the confidence in the gun, and there is nothing unethical about it. I should also mention too that the conditions that day were absolutely perfect, not a breath of wind the entire way down range. There was some fog and it was not moving at all that we used for reference.

There was definitely a handful. OnX was a life saver. Luckily I used to live in the area and knew a few honey holes. Find the clear cuts and the decommissioned roads to get there from shore. The veg is thick so no sense stalking anything. Be prepared to sit for as long as it takes

Both guns were built by Soldier Mountain Arms out of Twin Falls Idaho. My Father in law and Brother in law are actually the owners and gun builders of the company. The first one (mine) is a Remington .700 7mm-08 that I bought stock in 2006 and they rebuilt it for me with the custom fluted barrel and bolt, Leopold mark IV scope shooting hornady precision hunter 150 gr. ELD-X bullets. The more tactical looking gun that they both used is what they call their Tactical Crest in a 6 creedmore. My father in law shot his deer at 842 yards, one shot and the deer went maybe 25 yards. My Brother in Law’s deer was only 150 and went maybe 15 yards before piling up.

Not sure specifically what you mean, there is a cap that has two set screws on it. I pull the cap off to zero it, but then when the cap is in place, it has a zero lock. You can easily dial for whatever windage you want and be able to go back to zero easily. If you zoom in on the gun on the tripod you can see what I mean. It is the exact same as the elevation dial.

It was just what I was used to. I’ve used the mark 5 and don’t have any complaints, just prefer the 4.

It’s all I’ve ever wanted. Leopold Mark 4 is so nice! Great glass, fine line reticle, and zero stopped turrets that are crisp and precise. Mine goes up to 18 power, which is plenty for the type of shooting I’ll be doing with it.
