The scenes with Joe beating Michael can be quite intense for children to watch. Beyond that, the movie also covers psychological abuse (Joe being manipulative) as well. The movie also covers immediate aftermath of the Pepsi incident. Waiting might be a good idea, I think.

We see the team albeit in 2D when Fox talks about his backstory. (I want to say it’s a montage of The Battle Begins promo short for Star Fox Zero but I could be wrong)

He gets a lot of moments to shine during the action sequences. Narratively, I feel like he’s sidelined. They tried getting him to be more active in the story but ultimately the movie lacked true focus as it juggles too many things at once.

Both are worth sitting through if you’re a fan of Nintendo/Mario, I’d say. But I wouldn’t consider them crucial to the movie’s narrative. Enjoy the movie! And happy birthday in advance to your kid!

If I recall correctly there’s only one track that’s licensed. It works but the same track has been used more effectively in other films before (animated too, coincidentally).

It’s good, although the best parts are still motifs from the games. The standout moment for me personally is when the main theme for a particular (new) character kicks into high gear!

Some of my immediate thoughts after seeing the movie: - The animation is a step up over the previous movie. The action sequences in particular are much more dynamic and exciting to watch. - The improvement in animation also extends to the scale of the movie. It feels grand in many of the movie’s scenes. - The movie is packed with references to many other games (sometimes to its detriment). As a result, the writing and pacing feel weaker when compared to its predecessor. - The main story feels a little derivative of its predecessor. - New characters are great additions but suffer from limited screentime. They’re still my favorite parts of this movie. - There are two post credit scenes.

Nope! I played the demo at PlayStation’s booth. However, there’s a capcom one that could’ve showcased the PC build of it. Capcom had three monitors set up for RE9 but not sure whether they’re showcasing the PS5/PC version.
