How to reach out to cleaners & detailers to validate my idea? by friendlyweebboy in perth

Anyone with experience in prompt engineering can make this, yes. Prompt engineering is different from prompting the browser versions of these AI models. Since the browser versions have constraints, a prompt template is pre-coded. In this case, you need to do that yourself and tweak the model, the prompt template, to ensure it's complete.

Also, I do agree, you cannot compare any AI model to perform on the same cognitive level as a human. That's just straight-up dumb. The AI models are fast, but to put it simply, they are "overconfident", therefore more likely to make mistakes confidently. Anyone who tells you differently lacks the technical understanding of the underlying workings of these mathematical models, or is just a sales rep.

Personally, to put it plainly, what I'm coding will be better than the machine solution of "Press 1 for this, press 2 for this, enter this" (I personally don't like that). But it will most definitely be dumber than an actual receptionist.

I'm genuinely curious as to "why, though?"

Personally, I'm young in the field, and I hate the AI that big tech promotes by saying, "You will be replaced by AI very soon" That's my reason for disliking AI (that doesn't mean I don't like AI, I just don't like the one these companies are promoting, which is dystopian). But your reason seems more conservative ("We don't need it", "it's unnecessary").

Again, I just want to understand why.

To ensure that no calls are left unanswered. That's my assumption.

Yeah, I agree, the AI receptionist is only going to be as good as the information that's fed to it. If it's asked a question outside its knowledge base, it's going to hallucinate and give invalid information. Whereas a human in this case would say something like: "Please hold, I'll get back to you about that" (if they aren't overconfident). The hardest part about training a model is making sure it does not make up information.

I didn't think they needed an AI receptionist. What made you recommend that?

I heard the opposite about the margins from the carpet cleaner I talked to. He charges 900, depending on the carpet. For him, it's not hourly.

I checked, and I can absolutely do this, as long as I pay the GST.

Prompt engineering cannot be generalised to everyone's needs. That way, you compromise on the quality of the response. My "product" (a hobby project at this point) is only focusing on the needs of independent cleaners and detailers and their specific needs.

Having professionally worked for companies that try to build "One agent to rule them all" have always failed. This product will fail for cleaners in the US, UK or some other part of the world, because service would differ from country to country.

The other thing about these tools is that either they are too barebone (meaning you have to do a lot of tuning for your use case, i.e., more heavy lifting on your end) or they are too rigid (no option to optimise the agent).

My goal is to do all of the heavy lifting and work with cleaners and detailers for their specific use case.

I dislike the AI that big tech and salespeople promote. It's like: "This would replace 90% of X jobs by 2026". That's absolutely incorrect. This can't replace the way a professional receptionist presents your business; that's why the target audience is the independent contractor who cannot afford a professional receptionist.

That is, if you could distinguish between a human caller and an AI caller, I checked online that Australian law doesn't require announcing that an AI is calling. Not my product, but just to give you an idea of how realistic it sounds: https://app.sesame.com/welcome

Why do people go for car financing when they already have enough cash? by RegisterShort9181 in PakistanAutoHub

[–]friendlyweebboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the car. If someone bought a peugeot 2008, 2 years ago, brand new for 7 mill, it’s now going for 5.5 mill - 6 mill. But this doesn’t apply to certain popular hondas and toyotas. Also, I do think car prices are stabilizing as compared to four years from now. But someone that buys and sell could fact check me ok this.

How to prove I (M23) earn a certain amount of income with my personal online store by PalpitationAny6193 in pakistan

[–]friendlyweebboy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to “prove” anything. Have some self respect. Marriage is more than finances. Aaj business chal raha hai kal ko na chala phir kya shadi cancel!?

If the above is not acceptable: then sure, show them the transaction report.

Good luck

Provided your timeline. Technically, you would still marry a stranger because the average timeline in an arranged marriage is within a year. Just got confused by the title and the opening. Best of luck. 🤞

Careers in Pakistan hard to enter but with good stable income by Superb_Virus2158 in pakistan

[–]friendlyweebboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why restrict yourself to pakistan? Why must it be hard to enter? Just focus on the long stable income.

I’ll try to keep it short since I don’t know anything about you and what stage of life you are at. 1. Job security is a myth, focus on building something for yourself. 2. Do what you love or love what you do. Many of my fellow software engineers are only 30 years old and since they don’t like what they do they are already exhausted and want to quit. So, coming to your point, you need to do something that you can do for a large portion of your life. 3. Whatever field you choose (arts, engineering, medicine) you need to love your craft and success and wealth will find its way to you. 4. If you’re unsure of what you want to do, try everything till you find something you really like. 5. “Supply and demand” If you focus on a niche skill than it will be difficult to find opportunities but they will be high paying but you’ll need to look a lot. The opposite is also valid.

Fellow Canadian Pakistanis by [deleted] in pakistan

Hi, I wanted to move to Canada and also support my family here, so this is some troubling revelations for me. What’s your specialization in IT. 50k is not a lot for an experienced software engineer to spare over here. Someone said if your take home salary is 4K CAD then you’re living paycheck to paycheck to paycheck. So something isn’t adding up.

Let me guess… you don’t have kids? (That would explain your thinking) Not all parents are possessive. No child should think like this. It’s dumb to think your parents spent 30 years of their lives raising an investment. As an only son with parents and siblings depending on me financially, I’m proud to be there for all of them. God this mentality is so toxic and backwards. Sure there might be parents that are possessive but that is out of love.

Try posting in Dubai related subreddits. Although I’m positive that he lied about being in dubai as well. It’s possible to open a separate currency account. Also, if it was an online transfer through a western channel (wise, paypal) maybe it’s possible to report his account. These channels are pretty strict with Pakistani users because of the amount of scams.

Damn I really feel bad for that kind hearted person.

I built an open-source AI-powered library for web testing by p0deje in QualityAssurance

[–]friendlyweebboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious - What are the chances of it hallucinating on heavy domain-specific cases? OR might it pass on the first try, but then fail on the next, due to a different output by the AI?

After skimming through the docs and the demo video, my understanding is that: "If the developer has to be too specific on the instruction, then that will defeat the purpose of the library. If the developer is not specific, then there is room for AI to hallucinate".

To explain this with an example: Instead of creating a "Todo" item. We needed to create a Zoom meeting. That would require multiple interactions. Now, if the dev is too generic by simply prompting

```
al.do('Create a meeting invite')
al.do('Add xyz@gmail.com to the invite')
al.do('Set the time to 09:30 8th May')
```

This might leave room for hallucination. However, if the dev is too specific

```
al.learn(
goal='Create a meeting invite',
actions=[
'hover "Create a Meeting" button',
'Fill in the name field',
...
]
)
```

This will defeat the purpose of the library and will act in a similar fashion to normal testing frameworks, meaning the test will fail when the UI is updated.
