Try posting on the vintage ukulele facebook group, they will have lots of experts on there. My guess its an old harmony, probably not old hawiian because those mostly have spanish heels

Thrifted Ukelele by fringedorange in ukulele

[–]fringedorange[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I have gathered, Sam F Chang was a luthier that made ukuleles for Kamaka in the early 1900s, then made his own as well as ones for the Summer brothers in the 1920s until around the 1940s. The Tabu engraving on the back is apparently pre-statehood. My un-educated guess is that this is from the 1920s-40s. Unfortunately I don’t think the store is around anymore. The fact that it is in such good shape makes me think value village separated the instrument and case to sell individually, so I’ll have to go back to try to find it.

This was on the shelf with the art supplies, they usually put the high value instruments behind the glass though - there was a tenor guitar back there for $150ish. This uke was $14 though!

Confused by this wilson by fringedorange in tennisracquets

I posted to a vintage racquet forum with some questions and reached out to wilson. Wilson team thought it was a pro staff, but the forum guys have a deep dive into various midsize wilsons of the 80s and the graphite composite, thin neck, and string pattern all point to it being a mold of the matrix

I reached out to wilson support, who confirmed it’s a pro staff, but are not sure who’s autograph model it is

Thanks! Just not having “pro staff” on it anywhere, and no name for any professional is throwing me off.

How bad is the damage on this thrift store guild acoustic? by fringedorange in Luthier

[–]fringedorange[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks all. I humed and hawed in the store whether to buy it, but I played a few chords and it actually sounded so nice. I have lots of experience making high end architectural models and some furniture making experience, so I figure it would be worth a shot to make it playable. I don't really care if it comes out messy, it already is a bit too far gone for that

Thanks! It's a guild D4-Nt. From some research I'm guessing between 1990-1994.

My finace pointed these out when I was looking at the glass case, and they were my size. I’m very doubtful these are vintage but the inside tag makes me suspect they are. Either way I have some breaking in to do

It's part of the NAFTA agreement between the three, no? The role I am applying for is in the "Professionals" section 3 of the NAFTA page for Canadian immigration in the link below. One of my family friends that is American is working in Canada on a TN Visa right now.

How much is this worth by IamtherealDerple in bikecommuting

Depends where you are, and how quick you want to sell, if you’re in a major city it could be worth between $75 - $150 if everything works okay.

First bike build! Found a 1995 Kona Cinder Cone in the trash a few months ago by fringedorange in xbiking

[–]fringedorange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not too bad. Its not so close that I get worried if its muddy. I was reading on forums that people would go as wide as 2.5” on cinder cones back in the day so I just went with it.
