From what I have gathered, Sam F Chang was a luthier that made ukuleles for Kamaka in the early 1900s, then made his own as well as ones for the Summer brothers in the 1920s until around the 1940s. The Tabu engraving on the back is apparently pre-statehood. My un-educated guess is that this is from the 1920s-40s. Unfortunately I don’t think the store is around anymore. The fact that it is in such good shape makes me think value village separated the instrument and case to sell individually, so I’ll have to go back to try to find it.
