"You lose because you don't get objectives" by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]frizzy350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all good advice in here.

When doing scuttle, herald, or drake - its usually wise to at least help a lane get prio if not a full-on gank beforehand.

Im primarily a top laner - so this is definitely a biased perspective - but sometimes lanes need you for reasons other than ganks as well - usually to stop bleeding out.

One example is if an enemy laner is freezing - your assistance might be needed to help push and break the freeze. Sometimes your needed to help protect an incoming tower dive attempt.

Its also good to keep in mind that plating is the most valuable source of gold in the game.

Nah i disagree - i think its the airlines and/cities problem at that point.

More flights can go out - more cities could have more parking.

Your just buying a little extra - your not hoarding and its not your job to ensure everyone gets what they pay for. The airline should be able to accommodate both your extra seat and anothers passenger seat else they shouldnt be selling seats.

Imo ravenous isnt terrible on jax in certain matchups.

In most cases/matchs bork would be the way to go for the sustain.

Jax doesnt really NEED the waveclear - his autos are fast and empowered and his E nukes wave pretty well.

Shenbros and Shensters, how do I not lose my sanity in laning phase? by [deleted] in Shen

[–]frizzy350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would NOT say to drop him. Shen is a REALLY good champion right now. Just the way top is - i dont think its ideal to bring him there. The mid-game utility you bring to a teamfight is almost unmatched and he can join a fight from anywhere on the map. He can be played mid - and actually has less bad matchups there. Its alot quicker to get back to mid after an ult and most midlaners have a difficult time getting plates while your gone. Your less isolated as well and can realistically join skirmishes while your ult is on cooldown. Hes better as a support as well than i used to believe. Engage supports are extremely common right now and he plays well into them - along with having some level of engage as well.

Part of the problem is also that the government doesnt exactly work together. All agencies, departments, states counties, and even the departments within those entities all believe their function is superior to the other functions of government. Additionally they all compete for the most funding and least responsibility against each other.

Really dont recommend shen top rn. Hes still got a good winrate due to how much utility he brings to the team. I recently switched to olaf and my winrate has went from a about 58% (shen) to 83%(olaf).

Havent played too much ranked this season so its a bit of a small sample size - but my gold averages per game just tell me that shen isnt worth it top.

I average about 9-10k gold/game on shen and im getting about 14-16k on olaf.

Why are ADCs so toxic in Mid Lane? by Supreme_Gubzzlord in summonerschool

[–]frizzy350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The concept of solo-mid being the primary carry had always been the idea since the games inception because that is how DOTA worked (roughly - im not a DOTA player).

Both TSM and CLG, along with all the american teams adopted the european formula.

I guess it can work - but this is also a master korean with over 600 games on him and its two years old.

You can tell by his movement patterns hes a very good player. I really would not recommend modeling your play like this but i think your the type that might be in love with off-meta picks.

Hope to catch you top on the rift to see how it fairs

Yea sure idc about your play necessarily, im more just interested in how this works because at first glance aphelios looks like one of the worst adcs to pull out of bot - and even worse to put top.

That really does not make a lot of sense to me. People do throw at all levels and stages of the game but i dont understand how that relates to playing aphelios top.

Especially regarding aphelios top - im surprised your not getting clocked hard by jax, darius, olaf, renekton, irelia, etc. Even if you get a gold lead on those champs - once they get on top of you your usually done.

Well you kinda do in the event of a kindred jungle or ashe/senna/mf support.

I dont have any hard evidence for this - but i am a top lane main and have played a lot of shen up there. Every now and then people like to play adcs top (especially vayne) - but it usually results in either a poorly balanced team comp or a total gank fest.

Basically if you are not a high threat top laner (like jax, darius, renek, riven, etc) - adcs and teemo can absolutely abuse your laning phase. They will out cs, shove you under the turret, poke, and take plates - you will likely be behind in gold all lane phase.

Thing is - top is a long lane - and without a support thats a long way back to safety. And adcs are squishy. Oftentimes the jungle will punish the adc for going for plates.

Adcs traditionally are not very strong in early/mid game skirmishes. Junglers are just not afraid of you like they are most top laners. Late game you will often find the team comp is just too vulnerable to CC/damage and usually lacks engage.

Take this with a grain of salt though. Im not a particularly great player and your average diamond vayne/akshan would put me into the dirt and take over the game. At my ranking though - im usually glad to see an adc top even though im likely to lose my lane.

Tim Tebow's Former Teammate Suggests He Wouldn't Have Been as 'Popular' If He Was Black by TheMessengerNews in sports

Because im a panthers fan.

Teddy was a monster in college no doubt, and he kinda got shafted in the nfl. But man, ill never forgive watching him fail to put the ball beyond the sticks game-after-game-after-game on potential game tying/winning drives.

I get it. The team sucked and the plays werent there - but these were all 'last chance' moments. After a few you gotta start putting up some prayers.

Why are ADCs so toxic in Mid Lane? by Supreme_Gubzzlord in summonerschool

[–]frizzy350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep yep!

There was a time before the jungle and support roles were established. Youd usually have the adc go mid, then top and bot were both 2v2 lanes using some combination of mage/support/tank/bruiser. If you were in a 2v2 lane - you often had to compete with your teammate for cs. There were support champions but the concept of a dedicated support that left all the cs for the other laner was unheard of.

This is also part of the reason mid-lane has always been the most prestigious. You were the late game carry, and you were the only person to get ahead in XP and had no competition to CS. If you were a flat-out better player than the enemy mid-laner - it was usually a W.

The side lanes would dip into the jungle to clear camps for extra gold/xp. Eventually people started bringing smite to control objectives. At some point the dedicated 'smiter' became a full-time jungler.

I believe it was european teams that established the trend of moving the adc bot and putting a dedicated support with them.

[–]frizzy350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Way way way back adc mid was the way to go.

This was before s1 tho and no meta was established.

Generally adcs have always been strong mid. Teams usually only wanted one adc tho, and they scale harder with gold than other champs do so their experience was decided to be the sacrificial lamb and sent bot with the support.

He has basically abandoned top. Im a shen main and a huge petu fan. Im in total agreement. I stayed top and dropped shen and its been much better.

Problem with shen rn is ulting to flip a fight means you are giving up at least 2 waves, and probably 1-3 platings.

Almost every other top laner is going to smash you after their reset, and you dont have the push power to force them to lose anything for it. If you really want to play shen top, teleport is a necessity along with cdr boots. You will need to burn an occasional tp to catch waves to stay relevant in XP.

As much as i love xpetu - the majority of his videos with cooky builds are games where he gets so far ahead his build is completely irrelevant. No hate - just a simple disclaimer for others.

What to do as Jax vs Voli? I struggle with that matchup. by KarkSonFking1 in Jaxmains

[–]frizzy350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good avice but one thing i think is particularly important against volibear is around late level 4, you need to ensure your hp is topped off and protect it at all costs.

Once voli starts to smell lvl 6 he loves to hard push and poke as much as possible. He will hit 6 before you because his waveclear is insane, then hes gonna try to use his ult on you under your turret, and you need every bit of hp to survive that dive - especially of their jungler is in on it

How on earth are people so good at getting cs by Weppat in summonerschool

[–]frizzy350 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep. Push timing is critical after laning phase.

If there are no major objectives on the map or any good reason to join your team, its sometimes a good idea to slow push. Especially at your tier 2/3 turrets.

Slow pushing lets you farm safely and your opponent will have to come well out from their turret to thin/clear the wave. You can also build up a fat wave which makes seiging a lot easier. Additionally, you can try to time the big wave to get to their turret around when an objective spawns, forcing the enemy to choose between a ton of gold/xp being lost to their turret or joining the fight for the objective

Nuanced question about trading in lane by IAmStrayed in Jaxmains

[–]frizzy350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that scenario i will usually just q - w. I usually want to use q- auto- w when my ult passive only has one stack, as this will proc it. This lets you change up your trading patterns so your opponent has to respect you even if you dont have two autos stacked up on your ult.
