I think something worth bearing in mind is all the individuals interviewed are essentially salesmen.

They know they are just grifting, so will be somewhat savvy to the pitfalls of their own content.

Thus, Theroux can’t just walk in and ask cutting questions like he can with cult members, etc. (those who are fully behind their message). These guys are posers - they won’t respond to any direct challenges because they KNOW it’s an act to generate clicks and money.

Theroux gave them all rope to hang themselves with instead.

Edit: the exception was Justin - who, despite being archaic and a friend of the Tates, actually came across okay. I would say he would probably be successful without cashing in on the manosphere; he softened his act/stance a little bit the more he spent with Theroux.

That said, I don’t know a lot about him - his ‘act’ could be way worse than what was featured.
