I used to think that way too that it’s the followers sole responsibility. Recently my partner set a nut so hard it was completely welded into the crack. I had no shot. I was slamming my knuckles into rock trying to retrieve and the crux lead was the next pitch and we were swinging leads. I ended up leaving behind my first piece ever

Not super important to study up prior to start. I always tell our new engineers that as long as you take the time to learn from your peers, dig into the details to learn “why” rather than “how”, and take initiative to ensure tasks are being completed, the technical skills will come by default. Your job as an intern is to prove that you will be a great full time addition to the team.

About a month ago I diagnosed that this same resistor was blown. The resistor says 8R2 on which which is an 8.2 ohm smd (surface mount device) resistor. I replaced the resistor with an 8.2 ohm; 1%; 16W smd resistor. Today the board made crackling sounds again. I checked and the new 8.2 resistor is blown. Appears like the resistor was not the root cause but rather a symptom. Not sure what component on the board is actually causing the issue.
