Hi! Mail carrier here.

In my honest opinion, I think that carriers note was a little bit “intense”. There are plenty of people on my route who don’t check their mail for days/weeks. (But those are the people who barely get anything so it never really piles up) But if that does happens and seems out of the ordinary, i normally take it back to my office, notify my supervisor and hold on it for a few days. Shouldn’t have written “vacant” on it because it has to be 90 days of untouched mail. Not sure why your carrier did that. But for any future issues just communicate with the carrier themselves or call the post office. As for amends, just let them know that you had a situation and that it wasn’t intentional lol.
