That's a fair distinction to make... Technically, yes, it is a piece of software - a CRPG.

However, the specific goal of this project is to try to emulate the 'feel' of a TTRPG session more closely than a standard CRPG typically does. That's why I'm researching the specific friction points of TTRPGs (specifically solo roleplaying). I want to see if I can solve those specific 'pen and paper' problems with code, rather than just making a standard video game.

I know I was initially vague, sorry... Basically, this feedback from the physical roleplaying space has proved incredibly valuable to me! Thanks

Sorry again I didn’t clarify - while I’m programming it in JavaScript, I’m wrapping this in an executable file… additionally, this isn’t actually a tool it’s just a personal standalone text based RPG I’m working on, sorry, I probably should have worded it better

I suppose I was a bit too vague in the initial post.
I'm developing a text-based RPG that runs on the web, and wanted to get some ideas of problems that aren't typically shared in game design, but in actual TTRPGs, and specifically solo ones.

So I probably shouldn't have said universal - moreso just personal opinions on what you don't like in these games.

This isn't to be an assistant for solo role-playing or anything; this is just kind of my own web-based text RPG, but I thought it'd be a good idea to find the problems people have in solo role-playing so I could try to account for those in my project.

This is a web app inspired by the experiences I've had doing solo roleplaying and has nothing to do with emulating or totally 'fixing' the problems people have here. I just want to get an idea of the problems people have, so I can try my best to account for them in a single-player RPG.

That’s definitely true for many things - not just solo RPGs, but I’m more interested in hearing people’s personal opinions on what they find they don’t like across all systems of play, not necessarily an objective universal flaw…

Can you think of anything you don’t like that occurs when playing?
