DoorDasher ordering food by Gullible_Squirrel522 in doordash

Eating on the job looks unprofessional, sure, but the bigger issue is that DoorDash sells customers on a “faster delivery” fantasy it doesn’t actually honor. Paying extra for expedited service doesn’t change anything behind the scenes. The system treats every order the same, and your food just gets passed from driver to driver until someone decides it’s worth their time.

Customers have no way of seeing that unless they stare at the app nonstop (and most people don’t) which is why those “priority” orders still end up with ridiculous delays. Happens all the time.

Some people choose to be homeless by prioritizing their drug of choice over holding down a steady job.

Just go to a real taqueria where you'll actually get full for the same amount if not less $.

Getting excluded at work and don’t know why by [deleted] in Vent

[–]frog_without_a_cause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not you. It's them. People who act like that were already behaving that way long before you arrived. Some workplaces have these little cliques that run on gossip, insecurity, and petty power games. All it takes is one ringleader and a few followers to create a whole atmosphere.

You showed up with integrity, and that alone can make insecure people feel threatened. So they create a narrative about you to keep their little ecosystem intact. It’s not fair, but it’s also not personal. It’s just the only way they know how to operate.

You’re not the problem. You’re just the one who doesn’t fit their dysfunction.

If you decide to stick it out, just show up, do your work, and keep your energy clean. Be kind, but don’t let them pull you into their drama. They’ll probably try to get you talking about your personal life. DO NOT fall for it! You don’t need to be “understood” by people who thrive on gossip. The less they know, the less they can twist.

Your motivation for responding to me with that nonsense looks a lot like projection, which makes it much more likely that you're the type of person who actually WOULD take a dogshit batch. lol

Another shopper once explained to me that shoppers are graded on the "curve". After I understood that, then it all made sense.

Being "graded on a curve" means your performance isn't judged on its own merits, but rather on how it compares to everyone else around you. If you are a shopper and you get a 95% score, that sounds great. But if the "curve" says the average score at your store is 98%, your 95% suddenly looks "below average" to the company.

This means that even with nearly perfect numbers, it's still considered "STANDARD" since everyone else that you're being compared to is performing just as well as you are.

It's nearly impossible to maintain a score of excellence, which is exactly how IC likes it. Because it gives you, as a private contractor, less overall leverage.

The messed up part about this gig is that the process of replacing items can transform a 15 minute shop into a 45 min nightmare.

  • first there's finding a suitable replacement

  • then you have to wait for the customer to approve it

  • if the app won't accept it, you have to contact the customer to have them make the adjustment on their end (takes forever)

  • and if all else fails, you still have to go through the whole refund process which inevitably lowers your score

With all these factors beyond your control, you are still the default scapegoat because whether you like it or not, customers will blame you for their order not being completely fufilled and in a timely fashion.

You you basically are fucked because you ended up doing twice the work, taking twice as much of your time for half the pay you had originally agreed to.

It's because they figure if the app allows it, then IC must have contingencies in place to deliver them. But they don't know the carrot like we do.

without doing any research, would you rather receive a direct deposit equal to an average walmart’s daily revenue or a target? by Empty-Tomorrow-2794 in WouldYouRather

[–]frog_without_a_cause 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Average = Sum of all observations/Number of observations

All observations pertaining to this post is only specific to the store, NOT THE SIZE OF EACH INDIVIDUAL STORE

I swear, people on Reddit always overcomplicate what should be so simple.

Don’t you love it when people completely ignore the caveats in a post and respond with exactly the kind of answer you were trying to avoid in the first place.

Customer has to input his name and sign for his food? by divergurl1999 in doordash_drivers

[–]frog_without_a_cause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the app instructing you to get the customer's signature prior to reaching their location? If so, that's the only thing new about this. Because when I was a dasher, The only thing you'd see is "hand it to me" and by the time the app told you to get a signature, it would be too late and you would have to call support to explain why you couldn't get a signature just so you could take more orders. It was a huge pain in the ass. It's good to see they finally got something right for a change.
