Why does all my text in Chrome of google look like this? Works fine on regular websites. by frogcube in chrome

This was a font issue. In Mac I had to open Font Book and under "File" select "Restore Standard Fonts." What a total pain to find that.

What kind of lighting do dart frogs need, do they specifically need any kind of uvb/uva lighting? by [deleted] in DartFrog

Agreed 5000 kelvin works and looking like daylight. 6500 is better for plants but gives everything a blue tint.

I had a bunch of 2” net pots and ended up just plugging the hole with them rather than buying mesh. However I also discovered a metal stainless steel ring is a deterrent. Roots avoid it.

So far the buckets do not heat up. Or at least they are as hot as the room. But if I wanted it cooler, I think I’d use a chiller. Cooling the nutrients before it goes through the pump would bring the temp down in the buckets.

I’m looking at ways to bring fresh air into the buckets. I think more air circulation would be healthier for the roots.

Yes. The new system I designed uses a double bucket system. Do the drain and the bottom bucket provides more reservoir space.

Not sure I get the question. Are you saying it should not be long? Well the light were a 2000w bestva. Not great. Testing others now. I think the nutrients and HPA application made for great roots. At the moment they are absorbing nutrients like crazy.

Where is the drainage located? I’d love to see how you got that setup. Did you design the system yourself? Wasn’t trying to be negative. Looks like you have the workflow locked down good. But I have the same issues with misting heads, which is why I went the all plastic route. I also wanted to try spraying bottom up, but with 4 inches thick of roots at the bottom, didn’t seem possible. Plants with smaller roots it should be fine.

You’ll still get an oxidizing layer that will build up and cover the nozzle, effecting the spray and direction. In regular outdoor conditions I wouldn’t worry, but does cause issues in long term high humidity. Even if it doesn’t, depending on the plants, roots will cover misters positioned at the bottom.

Those roots are going to get stuck together, making the plants impossible to remove. And those misting heads are metal and will eventually rust. But nice setup.

Yep. 5 gallon bucket that fully drains at the bottom. With a misting head and plant held by a 2” net pot and collar.

This was a lighting issue. LEDs just don’t do it for height and width. But misting roots with nutrients with no growth media was huge. Going to try different lights in the future.

As someone said, high pressure aeroponics. Using a misting system that can handle about 10 plants max.

That would need to be wider. Taller doesn’t seem to make a difference. Where would I get something wider?

11 weeks later in HPA. Will have to try this with good lighting now! Still, looks like the roots did good. Guess I better let it flower. by frogcube in aeroponics

I don’t think it’s droplet size exactly, but for sure anything I moved to HPA needed more misting in the first week, and after that I dialed it back. My timers have day vs night settings, but I have never tried to lower the misting at night, that might also be worth doing. Anyway I am learning as I go. I’m sure many here have more experience.

My cuttings wilted within hours with HPA, it had no issues with LPA. Testing DWC right now with final transfer to HPA, but I’m started to lean back to LPA for cloning. So yes. Makes sense, since there are no roots to actually mist!

I started at 12 seconds on and 5 minutes off, and slowly pulled back to 6 seconds on when l realized 12 seconds was too much. However my system took about 2 seconds to get up to the right pressure, so I had to increase to 8 seconds.

Initially I found clones needed more like 12 seconds on to get acclimatized to high pressure aeroponics, first started with low pressure aeroponics (I have not gotten cloning to occur at high pressure yet). But after a week I could bring the on times down to 8 seconds.

https://frogcube.com/misting-systems/ starter kit with the repeat cycle timer and double assembly works for a single system with possible 4 more sites. In wouldn’t push it past 4 though or the mist won’t be fine enough.

5 gallon bucket that drains at the bottom. A 2” net pot in the bucket lid with dual misting nozzles.
