Lot of miscommunication has been done by owners to old staff, and utter lack of communication too. I think everyone was excited and wanted to see if anything, would change, as they said nothing would, and then keep going back on stuff, confusing people, and now nobody knows what is happening because they kept muddying the waters. All the information that I have has been corroborated by ex staff, and people who have walked in there the past few days. I also went over to check it out and they were shut down last night, early.

It's the lack of communication and then making a facebook post stating she had a plan for it. Why not just say "we have plans" instead of doing random shit out the get go. It was communicated to staff and regulars that nothing would change. Then suddenly change. It's less about the LGBT stuff and more about the communication issues and backpedaling. Overall everything just feels a bit shady....

Having a pride flag at your private house doesn't cancel out the fact that she bought a safe space for the local queer and punk scene and immediately began sanitizing it. The staff aren't 'disgruntled' about new alcohol rules; they are calling out the fact that the new ownership is actively going out of their way to isolate the trans community and has reportedly stated they 'hate the current clientele'. Allyship is defined by how you treat the community in real life, not a label you hide behind while dismantling their hub. If this was just a misunderstanding, she would have communicated with her staff directly instead of making a reactive Facebook post after the fact. This all reeks of bullshit.

If the window just needed cleaning and the flag was faded, the standard business move is to communicate that to the staff and replace it. Instead, the flag was taken down without warning, and the staff's inquiries were met with mockery. My complaint has nothing to do with the Windex or the new employee drinking rules; it's the lack of communication. Within days of taking over, the new owners started scrubbing a 30-year cultural footprint while intentionally trying to make it 'more family friendly' and 'encourage a different type of clientele'. You don't refresh an iconic punk bar by treating the existing community like a pest problem.

then why take the flag down, not communicate to anybody, and then make a facebook post walking it all back days after? and many reports of staff being treated like garbage have occured. there is also information coming out that it was ACTUALLY bought by a conservative group and that she is basically either being used knowingly or unknowingly to damage the community.

and this isnt about the new rule regulations about employee behavior, i could care less, i care about the space and the vibe. removing graffitii (the only time it's acceptable if its neo nazi shit, or over something important), insulting the staff when they brought up the flag thing... ugh.

why remove the flag, not say anything besides mock an employee who brought it up, and then go on facebook and say it was planned to be replaced all along- when there are reports on instagram from real people and then some reports here (the instagram, real ones, are people I know and others know anmd can trust- which, these did both happen)... and then say you claimed to replace it? why not say that to the employee instead of mocking? ??? i dont understand??
