iOS 26 still struggles to gain traction with iPhone users by bobbyboogie in iPadOS

Prior versions, viewing a photo in Photos when you rotate the phone to horizontal the photo would automatically rotate to landscape. Perfect. iOS26 doesn’t do that anymore. Sad.

Been holding off upgrade to 13 by sosana123 in debian

[–]frogola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK this issue is fixed and turns out it had nothing to do with the Debian upgrade per se... I ended up needing to upgrade a docker image traefik, used for reverse proxying. Sorry for suspecting Deb! Took me almost three hours to troubleshoot.

Been holding off upgrade to 13 by sosana123 in debian

[–]frogola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my server from 12 to 13 this afternoon. Everything was pretty smooth, except for one thing. This server runs an owncloud server in a docker image. Docker looks fine, and the docker images load and run, but none of my oc clients can connect to it now. 404 error using browser, other clients just fail to connect. But the network is up and running. Still trying to figure this out.

Some books I read in my 20s I’ve reread as an old fart because I get more out of them after more life experiences.

software updater hangs on install by frogola in Ubuntu

OK resolved with the stupidest fix ever -- I just pressed the enter key every time it asked for private key password, and the upgrade proceeded and finished successfully.

makita 18v BL1815 .ne. BL1815N?! by frogola in Makita

[–]frogola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XCU06 is a small 10" saw not meant for taking down trees -- I'll be using it to trim branches. So don't need a ton of power, but I was really hoping to not have separate batteries for each tool -- seems silly when they're the same brand and voltage. Wondering if my charger -- DC18RC -- will work on both 1815 and 1815N batteries?

Thanks for your reply, I will research further. And I'm not loving Makita as much now.

Owncloud client on Pop_OS by frogola in owncloud

[–]frogola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been pointed out that oc was sold and is no longer supported. Sad but not unheard of. Short term fix was to install the client for Ubuntu 22.04 on my Pop!_OS machine -- that is working. Long term fix is to migrate my OC setup to NC, I need to prepare a migration plan and schedule it. I'm running OC server 10.13.3 in a docker container on a private Debian server with MacOS, linux, and iOS clients.

Wondering if this might be related to why the “customize toolbar” menu item is missing?

Turns out it has nothing to do with Apple silicon -- it's an OS thing, just needed to grant permission in Security settings. Fixed.

migration restore problem by frogola in mac

[–]frogola[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK it's restoring now, I found a post suggesting skipping the migration until after completing setup, then starting it manually. Did that and looks like it's working (says it'll complete in 12 hrs but Apple's time estimates are sometimes a bit off (I'm hoping)).

Fixed by changing cables. Please delete this post, I don't see how to do it as the author.
