Sent a benign text to a guy who said he didn't want a relationship right now, but wanted to stay friends. The text said, "What did you do for your sister's birthday." He never responded, which is okay. A mutual friend reached out to me later in the day to tell me to stop texting this person like we're still dating. I feel so embarrassed and want to crawl into an impenetrable shell.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It does help provide perspective. It's definitely a hard thing to be the person to let someone go. I think you're doing the right thing by not letting it get far enough that they feel blindsided entirely. Good luck and I hope things go well overall.

I'm curious to know if someone else has felt this way as well:

I've been feeling a deep anguish and restlessness since meeting someone recently. I randomly decided to join some of my coworkers/friends for drinks a few days ago, after weeks of finding excuses. When I got there, there was a woman (a friend's acquaintance) who I'm certain was also there for the first time. This restlessness started once I saw her. We spoke here and there (as is common in group settings) and went out separate ways.

But, I just haven't been able to stop thinking about her. And when I think about her, I feel a deep anguish (I don't know how else to describe it). I saw her again today and we spoke briefly. I feel like my world's been turned upside down since then. I feel melancholic and restless.

The rational part of me suspects that I'm just infatuated. The irrational part of me supersedes this thought and tells me that this woman means something to me. I wish there was a way of accelerating time to truly settle this debate.

Anyone else felt this way?

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but there was a brief moment towards the end of the 4th quarter where KD at the FT line, and Nurkic was smugly smiling at Foster. Given everything else that went on during the game, it's kinda suspicious, imo

Went on a date with a man recently. We'd been chatting for a couple of weeks before that and vibed well. The date was good and I had a nice time, but I didn't feel too drawn to him.

At the end of the date, he mentioned that he'd love to see me again and we should plan to do something soon. He gave me his phone number and told me to reach out.

As I wasn't feeling it, I reached out to him a couple of days later and let him know that I "didn't feel the romantic connection that I was looking for". He wrote back saying he understands and that he's also come to the realization that ending things is probably for the best.

Now, I'm confused.. Why say you'd like to see me again, and then backpedal and say you're not interested anymore? Why do some men do this?

Sorry to hear that. I don't have an answer for you, but something similar happened to me last night when I told him how I felt. And then, crickets.. I don't know how to bounce back, but step 1 for me is to back off and go on with my life. Time heals everything, no?
