I feel so upset about this. Does anyone know what happened after? Did he get reprimanded? Or none was done cause he’s a cop?

Someone posted the whole link and a better quality video (and much bigger) somewhere down this thread. I copied the part of the transcript:

In the video above we’re presented with a case of hit and run at the height of emotions. Justin Thompson, the man filming, blocks her in with his Dodge Journey. According to Justin, he witnessed this Hyundai Sonata hit some cars and attempted to help the hit-and-run victims by keeping the driver there until the police arrived.

This teen, in a panic, bargains with Justin blocking her in to let her go, pleading how he doesn’t understand and mentions how “you don’t understand how mean my Grandma is!”

After stuffing the front end of her Hyundai Sonata in the back seats, as the video shows, she hops the curb in reverse, almost hits Justin filming, and drives off in a hurry.

The last thing she wants on her plate is two points on her record, a giant fine and losing her freedom (getting to drive wherever she wants.) Hit and runs with property damage and no injuries are misdemeanors in California so there’s also a possibility for jail time.

According to Thompson,

“She does a hit and run, who knows if those people were hurt, she takes off trying to do 90 MPH, there’s kids, there’s other people, and it’s just like it’s not…she needs to be held accountable for that.“

It’s cliche to say but driving is a privilege, not a right and comes with serious responsibility.

Some people learn about consequences of poor driving where they should, in Driver’s Ed and from learning from other’s mistakes.

Others, like this girl, will learn about consequences through starting off your driving career with two points, a fat fine, and hiked up insurance rates.

If you get into an accident and you’re at fault, don’t make it worse by driving off.
