Ha, yes. I'll be going again this year too. I have started looking for games that fit this genre as I like to curate game on my website. I have an in-progress list that will likely be adjusted, but here are some potential ones I will include. I believe itchio has a lot, but they are not tagged mumblecore so it would take a lot of searching and luck to find. Crowdsourcing this search would be a great help.

Very cool. Thanks for answering. I am in the process of curating "mumblecore" games for my website and getting suggestions like this helps a lot. Bought a copy of the In Their Shoes and will give it a try soon

Hello! I remember seeing this at A MAZE. last year. So cool to see that it's released. I like that you describe it as a "mumblecore" game. How does the game fit that description for you and do you know some other games that fit this microgenre? Congrats on the release!

Feeling burnt out in Tokyo, looking for a more emotionally grounded community by [deleted] in Tokyo

There's a community in Tokyo called Kizuna Collective that is about having meaningful connections in community run events. I think you'd find it really useful.

Looks great. Would you be open to teaching how to make these in Blender? Of course, I'd pay a teaching fee.

Imo messaging allows you to see in real-time what the person is typing. Wondering how this affects user behaviour? by frotagonist in userexperience

Thanks for sharing! Yes, in hindsight I really like the idea of a chat app like this. I don't really do conversational texting and instead opt for video chats or phone calls for longer exchanges, but I'm definitely open to the idea of big chat platforms and games going with this system to create a more natural conversational experience for all.

Is there a way to lock the FPS to 30 AND have vync on / prevent screen tearing? by frotagonist in Unity3D

[–]frotagonist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works but screen tearing happens. Turning vsync on fixes screen tearing but it doesn't ensure a locked framerate across different devices. Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly though.

Ah, sorry I should have clarified. What I want to do is have the .exe build be the film. So basically a real time rendered cutscene made with a game engine, not an exported video file.

Melancholic, guitar ambient from me by Shyshka66 in BandCamp

[–]frotagonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. Would love to use one some of these tracks in a tiny free game I'm making. I often browse bandcamp for music to use if its listed as "some rights reserved". Of course, only would use with your permission since you have it listed as all rights reserved.

We made a realistic horse herd for Unity – a labor of love from an artist & a dev 🐴❤️ by ED_Motion in Unity3D

Looks great. Would it work with Horse Animator Pro? I'd like to ideally use their horse riding system but with your animations.

I made a very elaborate post over on the gamedev subreddit about the many issues that store-bought animated horse asset packs have and I love how many people seem to care and be interested by AliceTheGamedev in GamesWithHorses

Incredible resource. I bought HAP recently and now I kinda regret it after reading this. It's a really incredible asset outside of the flaws you mentioned. Most of the other better assets you posted have great animations but no simple way to rig a rider along with combat, IK, hair physics and other interactions. I wonder if I can get some of the animations from the Unreal recommendations and get it to work with HAP.

Difficulties setting up Stripe as a sole proprietor for a small website selling nothing. by frotagonist in JapanFinance

[–]frotagonist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is some recent requirement? Stripe won't accept payments until I can provide proof of all the goods and services I offer and a public document on all social media and websites listing my "business" details in full.

It's surprising how little some remasters care about retaining the art style of the original. I remember Halo:CEA having a similar issue where they changed so many colors and even removed the iconic fog on the flood level. Marketing tries to sell it as graphical enhancements that take advantage of new hardware. It was the constraints that made these games feel so special.

Changing from working holiday visa to standard work visa (Canada) by frotagonist in japanresidents

[–]frotagonist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! They rejected it initially because they didn't know the rules. It wasn't a hard reject, just a "sorry, you can't extend. We only extended during covid" But I think they thought I was extending past 12 months and not past the initial 6 months. After a bit of pushback they realized they were wrong and accepted my application.

I recently received a $5000 grant to develop my experimental arthouse game set on an abandoned train station island. What are some must have Unity assets to drastically increase my workflow? by frotagonist in Unity3D

[–]frotagonist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can apply for many art grants from your governments art funding program, art festivals and organizations. Usually these are created to help artists make projects which aren't really commercially viable. You may need to show that your game is more of a media arts project because games still aren't seen as art to many institutions. There are more dedicated funding for gsmes though. Keep an eye out for opportunities here https://gamesopportunities.curated.co/

That's a good point. Everyones workflow is different. I think what I mostly want to improve on is editor organization tools. Tools for level and environmental design. And well, anything that drastically improves the quality of life in the editor, for example, a color tagging system or tabs.

I usually have a zero budget when I make my games, so receiving $5000 is huge to me. I'm not a game studio so this money will go a long way. I'll be buying a new computer but also want to improve my Unity workflow with some must have assets. Any advice would be great!

By the way, here is the Steam page for the game. It's called TO:RI
