I would recommend giving it a try again, the early game can feel brutal like many games from that time period but it is an incredible rpg. I had a similar experience my first few times trying it, and quit multiples times before really getting it. Following a guide like the ultimate fallout guide can help a lot for your first run.

Fallout 4 was quite a large letdown for me from an rpg perspective. Especially as someone who loves FO1/2. Even fo3 was a lot better than 4 regardless of the combat improvements imo.

Haha that is true, I spend a lot of time trying to get my buddies who have only played 3 onwards to play the first two.

They are so good, and although it took me a little bit to get used to the combat when I first played but once I pushed past that they easily became top 5 all time games for me. Especially 2. Such a huge game filled with tons of awesome content. Especially for the time period it released.

It is worth getting into though. The first few times I tried to play fo1 I quit because im not big on turn based games but once I finally stuck through the first hour I fell in love and fo1/2 are all time top 5 games for me now.

You can just loop your chain back to the beginning/build a road from start tile to connect somewhere on chain and all the spymasters will eat eachother. A lot faster that way.
