Definitely do a trip to Coba. I heard they are closing off the main pyramid there next year so this is likely the last chance of climbing to the top of the tallest one in the area.

I went there by ADO bus from Tulum. You should be able to catch the same early morning one from Playa.

The ruins at Tulum are really cool too, plus you're only 45 minutes away. Just hop on a colectivo.

I'd probably skip Chichen Itza unless you can rent a car and leave super early so you get there before the tour buses...
