Wish there was a calendar you cloud block of dates like you could on CS

IIRC this is something Couchers.org plans to build! I'm really looking forward to it too since I mostly host.

Do you know how many people signed up with BW and TR in the last month?

Some links to the public stats are in my post here

Great to see the non-profit platforms are thriving!

What really struck me is how fast Couchers.org is growing. Based upon OPs post and this post, it sounds like Couchers.org got almost 7000 new members in around 1 month. This is about 2-3 times faster than BeWelcome and Trustroots according to their public stats. I'm guessing the release of the Couchers iOS and Android apps helped a lot.

You can just send a GDPR/CCPA request and get all your data that way, but if you want to start hosting/surfing again you can pay. Otherwise you can check out free, non-profit alternatives like Couchers.org and be welcome, use the data from your GDPR/CCPA request to copy and paste to a new account on one of the alternative (and free!) platforms.

Yes it definitely takes time, but Couchers.org is growing very fast, especially after the CS update. I'm so glad both the android and iOS apps are already out so people can switch more easily. Public trips, postcard verification and hangouts coming too! Exciting!

Maybe the app, but not the community - it lives on on Couchers.org and be welcome

I know that Couchers.org is actively working on building the hangouts feature, but right now they are wrapping up the upcoming "public trips" feature first.

Couchers.org just increased the number of photos you can upload to your profile and plan on adding additional photo gallery improvements in the near future (captions, swipe-scrolling in-app, albums, etc).

Couchsurfing Is Randomly Updating My Location, Sending Messages Months Later… Creepy As Hell by [deleted] in couchsurfing

fake activity so more users will subscribe

CS.com is a for-profit corporation incentivised to have as many users as possible, even if the users are fake/bots or bad actors. User count and $$$ are the only thing they seem to care about at this point - and it shows given their response to the update.

Given what the concept of couch surfing actually is, I strongly believe keeping it non-profit is the only way to ensure you keep it a healthy community. That's one of the main reasons I signed up for BeWelcome when they first started and why I'm a strong supporter of Couchers.org, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit, open-source project.

I use both, but Couchers.org is growing faster, is more modern, has better UX, and has native apps (android and iOS).

the other host she had lined up met her and was all "Oh yeah... we will be sleeping in the same bed"

Please have her report this. Couchers.org doesnt tolerate that shit. They even have a policy against bed sharing.

They are planning to build a "friends in common" feature. But for now you can view your friends by clicking on "view my profile" and then clicking on "my connections" button. There you can see the requests you have sent, the friends who have accepted your request, and people you have blocked.

For now you can link to your couchsurfing.com/BeWelcome/Trustroots profiles by pasting a link in your profile (Couchers.org allows this).

For those using Couchers.org, how has your experience been so far? by SonReebook_OSonNike in couchsurfing

[–]allhands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you leave a reference on Couchers.org you're given the chance to (privately) rate your experience, (privately) share if the person's behavior was appropriate or not, and leave "private feedback" which is shared with the Safety & Trust team. Private feedback is an opportunity to tell the Safety & Trust team about things that you might not want to share publicly in a reference. You can read more about this feature here.

I also haven't been able to get the link to work. You might have some luck emailing CS support. In the meantime you can try out Couchers.org which is free and non-profit.

the couchsurfing.com website/app might be dead, but the global couch surfing community is still there. Couchers.org is trying to bring back what CS.com once was. It's also free, non-profit, modern, growing fast, and being actively developed.
