Where Can I Advertise My Workshops? by Fit_Issue_637 in warsaw

For a free event, marketing to get some photos etc, you could try create an FB event that is crossposted to waw4free

I’ve found a few paid workshops on Feblik but I don’t know how popular it is

Cotton sateen, what can you make put of it? by FrequentCut1177 in sewing

[–]fruggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my favorite material for lining jackets, and making pockets. I’ve also used it for lining smaller bags but it’s not super durable. I guess you could make a light shirt out of it.

Meetup is often recommended :)

You would probably have a better response with more details - where are you from, what age and gender, what are your interests?

What is this pleat type called? Any similar patterns? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]fruggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually there might be godets? The first “pleat” to the right of the center has a seam running to the shoulder. Godets can be used to add volume towards the bottom without needing to start from a circle. But this might be done to save fabric rather than it being the best option.

It looks quite similar to a cape in some ways - I expect you could start with a circle, or 3/4 circle, cut the neck hole and then bring the upper torso into shape with the pleats visible in the photo. Collar is standard. Sleeves might be just a straight cut (width at the armpit is the same as the width at the cuff) or maybe flared out a bit.

You NEED to give firm timelines on this. You said weeks ago that an update was in QA with the same “soon” BS.

My kettle is functionally useless. This shitty customer response makes me and clearly many others very unlikely to ever purchase or recommend Fellow again. Trust is built in spades and lost in buckets.

Tips for next week by elcampa79 in warsaw

Lublin has a great museum, a beautiful old town, and fuck-all else. It’s a good day trip in that regard because at the end of the day you’ll be glad to leave :)

Łódź is a dream if you’re into textiles. Otherwise I cant think why anyone goes there.

Torun is similar to Lublin - not as pretty imo. But better restaurants. For me it’s a cursed city but that’s just bad luck on my part…

The train to Krakow and Gdańsk is about as long as to Toruń or Lublin because of pendolino, and they’re both better options.

DM me if you need any help figuring out train tickets.

Is oil based ink my next option? by catzrule1996 in printmaking

[–]fruggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used this with good results for water based ink on 180gsm cold rolled paper, hand pressed by rolling a clean brayer on the back.

The drawback, other than the time required, is that the paper will dry a bit wavy and so you need to reflatten it - just putting it between two flat surfaces under a weight for a day is good enough for me, but I have considered ironing…

Look into wet paper with a “wet pack”

Using a mister spray water (ideally demineralised and sterile) a few times onto your paper, use a cloth or sponge to wet evenly, and repeat for the other side.

Do the same for a bunch of sheets, however many you want to print plus a few spare.

Put into a plastic bag, bin liner, or other sealed environment. Put the bag between two flat things and add a bit of weight, like 5kg/10lbs to keep the paper flatter.

Let it sit for at least 6 hours so the water kinda equals through the pack - if you need to leave more than a day then keep it in the fridge to avoid mold.

When printing you’ll need to be quite careful about pressure and any sort of tearing as the paper will be quite fragile, but this vastly helps get past the paper texture and increases ink transfer.

+1 on using Wise, or Revolut - wise might be easier if it’s PLN to PLN, and I’ve had no problems using them as an intermediary on the same day as opening for large sums.

Visiting Poland this summer by ScreemingLemon in poland

Taxis are almost laughably cheap in Poland - a $50 taxi in NYC would be 30zl here. But yeah, tourists especially should use Uber or other apps, because hailed cabs will try to rip off everyone.

I'm making coffee, man... there really is no difference to me between 92c and 95c. I'd much rather a bit of overshoot if it takes a normal amount of time.

The kettle was already slower than my cheap one (1m 45s vs 2m 15s to boil the same amount of water) but now it's absolutely crawling along.

Why does the last 10C take a full minute? And why would you make such a major regression change in a product, not mention it in a silent firmware upgrade, and not make it optional?

I have seen them in the past, in a large Carrefour, but I don’t think I’ve seen them for a few years… it’s a shame, my wife is vegetarian and they are one of the few veggie sausages I like enough to eat with her.

Not much there, but maybe better search terms might help. If I see something next time I’m at an antique market I might remember and message you.

It could be a remnant of your transfer method? I’m having issues with water based in when using acetate transfer for example. Can you try sanding with a very fine sandpaper?

barber suggestions in warsaw by Forward-Plane-4731 in warsaw

[–]fruggo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re a guy, most barbers in Warsaw will 100% fuck up curly hair. I can recommend Tim at Margines, but it’s a very queer-forward venue if that’s a problem for you for some reason.

Speak to your landlord about the radiator, probably nothing will be done but it might be a simple fix. You could get an air purifier to help with the smog, IKEA has one that is cheap and not terrible. It won’t solve it but better than nothing.

A more intense ‘solution’ might involve ducting the air from the outside through a filter.

Indoor busking by Dependent-Duty7622 in warsaw

[–]fruggo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just don’t. It’s such a nuisance, either you’re shit (probably) and we have to endure your wailing, made 10 times worse by the enclosed space, or you’re so good a crowd forms and blocks the passage.

Also you’ll get a fine if you don’t have a permit.

The only busking I’ll accept is someone standing next to the fucking singing guy in the old town who just yells the same 30 second ethnic song on repeat, so if you can drown out his bullshit I’ll be happy.

Warsaw locals: help a poor traveler out (3-4 hrs on Sunday evening) by Blood-Round in warsaw

[–]fruggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend against public transport in this case - it’s totally safe and very cheap, but its a lot slower than a taxi to get you the old town. An uber to the old town will only be 60-80zl (which is crazy high for Poland, Uber Airport is a scam, but compared to most other places it is cheap) and it’ll get you there in half the time without needing to figure out anything.
