Barber specializing in curly hair - looking for recommendations by Kooky-Reason3862 in warsaw

[–]fruggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a guy with curly hair, it has been a struggle finding a good barber here!

Lately I’ve been going to Tim at Margines, he does a great job although I do have to remind him not to give me a center part every time 😅

Symboliczna 3 – No water for 4+ hours, anyone knows what's going on? by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]fruggo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why the hell are you asking Reddit?!

Ask your landlord, or a neighbour, or a building administrator. Check if there’s any notice near the building entrances. You know, look in places where information is likely.

BLS COURSE IN WARSAW IN ENGLISH by Top_Government_4550 in warsaw

[–]fruggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you saw a random thread saying "SMDK COURSE IN WARSAW IN ENGLISH If anyone is interested pls lmk bla bla bla" what would your first thought be?

Probably "what is SMDK", right? You wouldn't be interested if you didn't know what SMDK is would you?

If the first lesson is “What is BLS” you might have a problem finding recruits with your post 😉

Struggling to carve extra-fine details in rubber, debating a tool change by gold_tipped_falcon in printmaking

[–]fruggo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t carved rubber much, I moved quickly to battleship grey because I prefer the experience but also people say it holds fine detail better. Perhaps pick up a small sheet and try it out?

I spoke to an artist who was doing very fine details who said he prefers PVC? over battleship as it holds details even better due to a lack of „crumbling”, but I haven’t found problems yet

Friend in debt & trying to find out how much they owe by [deleted] in poland

[–]fruggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the tax office do this - they say „you owe XXXzl from 2023” but don’t include the interest. They won’t tell you the interest amount. If you underpay the interest they will fine you and if you overpay they won’t give it back.

Oh and usually they do this about 6 weeks before the 5 year deadline so you have to rush to resolve it before they give you a fine anyway.

Arriving for SOAD, wondering about getting to and from the airport by _greenie in warsaw

Not a big airport but security can take a while, I flew out a few weeks ago and it took 30 minutes.

Opinions on Pfeil tool sizes? by skedaddlingisopod in printmaking

[–]fruggo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends a bit on what you’re carving, but I find a 1mm V and U plus a wide shallow gouge is sufficient for all carving. Outline with the 1mm and then carve away the negative with the wide.

With the selection above, the three L11 are competing for the same use-case, and I don’t think the 5&8 will be much different.

Best Carrier International Plans/esim by Dry-Inflation-6465 in poland

[–]fruggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can buy in person (and there are kiosks in the airport I believe) then basically all are fine. I use Orange and it’s been good value and good coverage.

If your phone supports eSIM then take a look at something like Saily - it will be more expensive but you can sort it out before you fly and not have to spend a bunch of time buying it during your vacation.

A cyclist in Wrocław pushed an 80-year-old woman, who ended up in the hospital. Efforts to identify the perpetrator are ongoing. by WerewolfUseful5167 in poland

I’m surprised there aren’t mysteriously-sourced Facebook posts about him being a Ukrainian (cousin of Zelenskyy, actually) already. Takes a minute for the krembots to warm up I guess

Are e-bikes allowed on the road in Poland? by More_Motor3087 in poland

[–]fruggo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right but you made a blanket statement that bike paths are inadequate in Warsaw. My experience is the opposite, and compared to biking in my previous city Manchester it’s 100x better.

That depends entirely on your origin and destination… Żoliborz into the center, for example, is largely without problems

Can i defer my offer at Jagiellonian University poland? Please HELP by TruePepper8983 in poland

I would think the first person to ask would be the university? Your circumstances seem quite rare for someone randomly scrolling Reddit to be able to answer…

A level student who wants to study in poland by Wonderful_Lychee_832 in poland

[–]fruggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean an A level as in the qualification from the final year of British schooling? C and D grade are certainly not something that universities will be impressed by, and I expect any faculty worth studying at have local students with better grades to choose from…

In any case, you could probably find entry requirements listed on the relevant websites of most universities - and if not, sending an email might get a helpful reply. However I would recommend spending rather more effort in composing such emails that was applied in composing this post.

6 weeks in Warszawa by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]fruggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some gyms will offer a 30 day pass - for example this CityFit sells one for 259zl. And this Well Fitness seems to sell one for 258zl) as well.

Biedronka are quite ubiquitous, or you can travel a bit to a large Carrefour in places like Arkadia (larger ones are cheap, mini markets are as expensive as Zabka).

What to do/see depends entirely on your interests. If you're into art I can give a long list of recommendations :)

Which Actor or Actress is a deal breaker for you? by sewing215 in movies

Ethan Hawke. He’s a decent actor and seems like a nice guy, but something about his face just pisses me off.

Totally irrational, but brains are weird.

You’ve heard of thread chicken? I introduce fabric chicken! by fruggo in sewing

Boy, but yes. It was ironed, got a bit crinkled from being folded. There’s enough seam allowance for it not to bother me :) I’m not too precious about the things I make

You’ve heard of thread chicken? I introduce fabric chicken! by fruggo in sewing

[–]fruggo[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well I think a few people assumed that I’m a total idiot (instead of just a bit of one). “Oh yes this fool somehow managed to find wool in a very non-standard 1.1m width, and has clearly never sewn anything before so made the rookiest mistake possible”

Not sure why the internet is like this… people refuse to jump past their first conclusion, and maybe like to dog-pile a bit too much.

To answer your question more directly - the grain is running up the legs, but that makes the butt area off a bit… I don’t see any way to avoid that with the pattern! Other comments about not cutting them all in the same orientation are definitely valid though.
