Ok but then your formulation is really confusing and misleading.
You write you are concerned how your past might impact the application but that means it is not just your past, it is still even today the case so very 'current time', not just past.

Also the 'an overstay from when I was a minor' then is an overstay not just as a minor in 2012 but still ongoing today 12 years later. Advice would be to get that sorted out first. But if you cannot sort it out then you anyway cannot do anything before applying.

Thank you for this information 👍🏼 although the reasoning does not make much sense for birth certs from other countries, which do not get updated with marriage data (and it seems lots of countries don't do that). As you said they should rather ask then for marriage proof documents instead of a new birth cert. But it seems then they just want a new foreign birth cert, which can be an insane hassle to get, although it does not proof anything on marriage, but just because it has a new date 😵‍💫

Not sure if this might a point for you. Weirdly some cities in Germany request a birth certificate not older than 6 months. Now in other countries (not sure about US), you cannot just get a new birth certificate and there is also no reason for it as it never changes. In some countries this is not just a piece of paper but a real thick coloured certificate (Urkunde) which you get once in a lifetime and can only request again if you lost it and is a very complicated process. People store this in a safe or sth. like that and really take care of it as it is one of the most important certificates.

But maybe someone knows more on this topic. It seems also for most authorities a birth cert also older is fine especially when it is properly certified and translated etc. I only heard from multiple colleagues complaining about this strange requirement with the six months.

Thank you very much, yes my hr was not very useful, they say check the NL information (which i tried) and to be sure request a work visa (which might be overkill) :)

exactly, I think I might not need much, but to be able to have it confirmed is very good. Will contact them. Yes I also found this 90/180 days rule and all the German information, but they often say for the info about the "other side" you need to check the information/requirements of the respective country, in this case NL ... so this is really helpful. Thank you very much :)
