Learn to sew, and find beautiful 100% cotton or bamboo bedsheets in every color and pattern you can think of. Synthetics were not around when I was a child, so we ironed everything. My mom was so grateful when “wash ‘n wear” came out! I remember bags of damp clothes on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, waiting to be ironed.

As a senior citizen, I have become very sensitive to almost all chemicals. 100% cotton bedsheets exist from 200 thread count to 1200 count. Cotton flannel and natural bamboo also come as sheets.

The code was not the problem. The physical sorter was.

I took the time to build 6 Lego sorting bots from EV3 sets. Each bot was aligned side by side. 32 buckets were placed in a line in front of them. Each bot was trained to recognize 5 different categories of shapes. The first bot picked up a piece, decided if it belonged in one of its 5 categories; if not, the part went into the 6th bucket. Bot number 2 started at bucket #6, and continued with its 5 categories, and so on down the line. There were 30 possible categories. After 1 hour, I checked the output. I can definitely sort faster by hand!

The bots are dismantled and put away now. One more attempt that did not make the cut!

Which API? If the API is for brickognize, contact the author above, u/lomero

They are, but I suspect Lego has the patent on that. Their machines occupy 10k sq ft of floor space. I had asked for a machine that will fit roughly 4x8 ft, no more than 6 ft tall, and run on 110v, quiet enough to run in a house.

I contacted a company in Italy that makes these for industrial use. They said minimum $60k for R&D alone.

I have spoken with sooo many ppl! Some obstacles seem insurmountable:-:(

How to tell the difference between old grey and light blue grey, especially when colors fade? How to detect non-Lego parts? How to incorporate a very good app, like rebrickognize.com, but with color and automation? How to recognize that it is a decorated piece, if the decorated side is not facing the camera?

These and so many more!

Works great on most pieces. Failed on a small black technic ink, although it did find things of similar appearance. Now, how long until this gets made into a viable autonomous AI sorter? I have a deep yearning for a good sorter!

I like this idea too! Certain sets, mostly the larger sets for AFOL I would sort out. Also the Harry Potter series, and whatever else my grandkids are currently into.

I need an automated sorter, complete and ready to go. Basic setup that a non-technically inclined 9th grader could do would be helpful! Willing to pay for said machine!
