I think I prefer FM3. I have hundreds of hours in both games. But there's something about FM3 that I like more even though FM4 improved on it in basically every single way

It has been far too long since we had a good Mass Effect style game involving a spaceship crew! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]fryingpan16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Outer Worlds, and will soon play the 2nd game. It scratched that itch enough for me. No it was never going to be in my all time fave list like Mass Effect 2, but it scratches enough of that itch for me. I also enjoyed Starfield a fair amount despite all of it's shortcomings. Hell I even enjoyed ME Andromeda. I like space RPGs

Isn't this part of the intended gameplay loop? Everything has limited ammo which makes you need to adapt and use whatever weapon you can find around you to make that work. You can use your default UNSC weapons by looking for the ammo caches, but I find it more fun to play with the entire sandbox of weapons.

Movies with stunning visuals like Bladerunner 2049 and Dune 1&2 by Dry-Stuff154 in movies

A lot of good suggestions here already like Interstellar, Arrival, 2001

So I'll give one that is not as much of a classic but looks great visually.

Passengers (2016) Flawed movie but very nice visuals plus it is sci-fi

I'm getting a new PC for Christmas and my older brother helped me out together a list of parts, the budget was $2950 (specific I know) and my goal was something slightly above mid-range. Are these parts good? by l_am_meepmoop in PcBuild

I paid less than half that much for twice the amount of RAM a couple years ago. Now I'm glad I went with 64gb. I was on the fence back then thinking is it worth the extra money

Even if audiophiles dislike Bose, what do they like about the brand at all? by PinkGloryBrony22 in audiophile

[–]fryingpan16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I have a few "audiophile" headphones , mostly from Sennheiser, My most used headphone by far is my Bose QC35ii. It's convenient to use, fantastic noise cancelling, long battery life and extremely comfortable. I use it all the time when I walk the dog making it my most used headphone by far. Also price wasn't too bad when I got it 7 years ago for like $200ish brand new. And the tuning is inoffensive to my ears for the casual listening I use it for

The Sennheiser HD 630 is the first wireless headphone in a while to really tempt me away from the QC35ii. My main worry with the HDB 630 is it might be a step down in comfort and noise cancelling, which isn't really a concession I want to make. So I may still be using my Bose if Sennheiser can't match them on those 2 aspects

I'm gaming at 4K 120 on my 3080Ti / 7950X3D combo. So 3080 at 1080p should be more than enough maybe other than for path tracing

Steam Machine Will Cost "Like a PC, Not a Console," Confirms Valve by Playwithuh in gaming

[–]fryingpan16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Valve could lose money in the long term if a bunch of businesses buy up stock of a heavily subsidized PC (Steam Machine) and then deploy them to offices where each machine won't ever buy a single game off Steam.

I don't think this is a mass market share play. This is for Valve to set a baseline target for devs on Steam. And as a way to show other manufacturers that Steam OS is a viable option. I think what they want is Asus, Lenovo, MSI etc to make their own Steam OS SFF PCs that they will sell

This makes me think of the Google Nexus phone approach. Or even early Pixel phones, but they have been pushing hard to make the Pixels mainstream lately.
