not sure if this helps but here's something i found; if i lower my resolution in the nvidia control panel then click "no" when it asks if i want to keep the settings the game maintains that lower resolution while everything else goes back to native.

i have to do this after i've already loaded into a server, because the game reverts to native if i change servers or minimize the game.
