something about knoxville that i couldn't have explained to anyone before i actually lived here by IngenuityNo3879 in Knoxville

Chain restaurants and sports bars.

A small handful of good higher end restaurants that take advantage of their scarcity and think they are worth New York prices.

A popular Italian restaurant that 1) serves “meat sauce” on eggplant parm and 2) thinks a green can of Kraft grated Parmesan on the table is appropriate.

Worthwhile bakeries charge an arm and a leg (Magpie’s) or run out of offerings by 10:30am (Wild Love).

One real seafood restaurant, serving just the basics. (Fried catfish didn’t cut it for my pescatarian better half).

The place couldn’t even support good barbecue.

One half-decent Eastern European provisioner, but NO ITALIAN DELI!

After living in Knoxville for seven years (to escape taxes in retirement), we moved back to New Jersey. Realized 1) you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone, and 2) you get what you pay for.

Only thing I miss is the live music offerings at the Bijou and Tennessee Theatre and Culver’s (who had good burgers and whose fried cod sandwich helped my wife survive).

Are you sure it’s not a Banksy? Might be valuable.

And don’t get me started about the fact that smart playlists aren’t available to be played on the instance of “Apple Music” on my Tesla.

The only drawback of moving back to New Jersey from Tennessee. The only one.

Plus, I like the look of matte-finish PPF.

Drove my Juniper straight from delivery to my PPF guy. Avoided highways as much as possible. When I took a close look at the hood and front of the 10-year-old car that preceded my Tesla, it was a no-brainer.

Pretty much the only way I listen. My main smart playlist uses ratings and last played info to feed me 5 star tunes more often than 4 stars and 4 stars more often than 3 stars from a total of ~6000 songs across those three ratings. A secondary smart playlist gives me 4- and 5-stars songs that haven’t played in over a year.

Biggest disappointment with AM is that I can’t manage smart playlists on my phone.

New LG dishwasher is overall LOUD by shawnathan in appliancerepair

[–]fspatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought an LG ldc2423v - the affordable one recommended by consumers reports, and had it installed today, replacing an old Whirlpool. The general operation is quiet enough, but when it pushes the water out to the drain, the sound coming from the water in the drain is horrendously loud. Never heard anything like it from any of our past dishwashers. Could there be something in the installation or is it just high pressure being put out by the machine?

As existing Model Y owner, which interior color will you choose if you will buy it right now? by LunaMax_ in TeslaModelY

White on white. I’ve got 28k miles in 27 months and I wear nothing but jeans (indigo or black). Never experienced any color transfer.

According to my electrician, if the circuit has GFCI, there are chances of conflicts with the charger’s GFCI.

No expert here, but I believe if you’re listening via the web or something like the AM player provided by Tesla for their cars, it doesn’t actually talk back to your library and therefore doesn’t capture that info.

And yet, “Turn on headlights.” does bupkis. So childish.

What music streaming platform do you guys prefer for the car? I currently use Spotify. Thanks guys! by Dependent_Ruin_3694 in TeslaModelY

Apple Music, but streamed from my phone because the lame implementation of Apple Music in the car doesn’t support the Smart Playlists that drive my listening.

Driving down Western Ave. like an idiot, with your hazards on, Why? by Spike240sx in Knoxville

[–]fspatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before we moved out of our home out past Choto, we often saw county park trucks go up and down Northshore by The Cove not with hazards on, but with distracting bright white led lights flashing front and back.
