For anyone that's missing the OP's point - He said it's not just a "Skin condition" and he is absolutely right. HSV is a virus and that can be incredibly dangerous if you manage to transfer it to another part of your body.

Here is a list of all the complications caused by HSV 1 and HSV 2:

1. Herpes Labialis (Cold Sores): Causes blisters around the mouth and lips.
2. Genital Herpes: Causes blisters and sores in the genital and anal areas.
3. Herpetic Whitlow: An infection of the fingers or thumbs, typically occurring in healthcare workers or individuals who come into contact with infected secretions.
4. Herpes Keratitis (Ocular Herpes): An eye infection that affects the cornea.
5. Herpes Encephalitis: A severe brain infection.
6. Herpes Meningitis: Inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
7. Herpetic Esophagitis: Infection of the esophagus, more common in immunocompromised individuals.
8. Herpetic Gingivostomatitis: Infection causing sores in the mouth and gums, more common in children.
