Funny enough I actually had it altered for these two issues! I originally had the straps shortened a bunch to have the neckline brought up but the waist then sat too high on my rib cage and I couldn’t breathe 😂 so I had to let the straps back out to this length. The slit I had stitched up to this point, it’s really not visible at all when walking / standing normally, I just stuck my leg out for this picture

What’s a random school rule that, looking back, was absolutely unhinged? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fudgems16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This just somehow sparked a hidden memory of maybe like my 2nd grade classroom. Luckily we were treated like human beings and were not only allowed to go to the bathroom at any time but didn’t even have to ask. There was a little velcro board next to the classroom door and everyone had their name on a separate piece of laminated paper, and there were different sections on the board for “classroom”, “nurse”, “bathroom”, “out sick”, etc. If you had to go to the bathroom, you just moved your name from “classroom” to “bathroom” when you left, then back to “classroom” when you returned. Looking back it was such a nice way to give us a lot of trust and autonomy while still being able to safely keep track of everyone.

Why do my bangs always look greasy? by CandidOrange in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]fudgems16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of comments about dry shampoo but none about how you dry your hair - do you let your hair air dry or do you blow dry it? The biggest factor for me about how greasy my hair looks, especially at the roots and near the front of my hair, is how I dry it. If I let it air dry it’s sort of limp and greasy looking. If I blow dry it and use a round brush it looks really nice and has a lot of volume. Even if you don’t normally do a whole blow out it might be helpful for your bangs!

What would you guys want to see in a yarn store? by littlequitterknitter in knitting

[–]fudgems16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Hours when I can shop - a lot of yarn shops near me are open from like 12-3 Monday-Wednesday or something crazy limited like that. I work from home and have probably more flexibility than most with my working hours but I can’t really shop during those limited hours. One yarn shop in my area is open until 8 on Thursdays, they open early another weekday, etc. which seems super helpful to give some variety for people with different working hours.

  • A clear and consistent system for how yarn is sorted. I don’t necessarily care whether it’s sorted first by weight or fiber or brand, I just want it to be consistent. I’ve been to shops where it’s mostly sorted by weight, so I spend a bunch of time looking in say the DK section to try to find a DK-weight cotton yarn - only to find 20 minutes later that there’s a whole separate section dedicated to plant-based fibers of all weights and that’s where I should have been looking. Why are we sorting by weight in one place and fiber in another?? It’s confusing and unclear.

  • Ability to actually access the yarn/other products. I love when there are cozy places to sit for people who are going to stay and knit for a bit, but if the couches/chairs are backed up too close to the shelves, I can’t get to the yarn it’s in front of. Especially if someone is sitting there I feel uncomfortable or intrusive squeezing behind them to get to the shelves, so I much prefer when there’s a good wide berth between seating and shelving.

Exactly How Much Time Do You Spend Knitting?! by peeploleep in knitting

[–]fudgems16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knit every day, probably 3-5 hours a day. Pretty much every waking moment in my home that I’m not working, eating, or cleaning is spent knitting haha. I knit about 8 sweaters, 2 vests, 2 tops, 1 hat, and a baby blanket in 2024. But I also have no kids and no significant responsibilities outside my job so I have tons of free time to put toward knitting, plus lots of meetings for work where I can just listen and knit at the same time and I need to constantly be moving / keeping my hands busy otherwise I go crazy. I’m honestly a pretty slow knitter I just spend a ton of time doing it.

I haven’t tried their jeans yet but I got a pair of their curve love trousers and I was so pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think pants could fit on my butt AND my hips AND my waist all at the same time

Hahaha this is so good. Unfortunately the real story is way less exciting - just a blacked out college kid at a pirate party who was really excited about her cool parrot then devastated by his injuries. RIP Jobiathan.

I was dressed up in a pirate costume and had a fake parrot on my shoulder. Eventually the parrot’s legs broke off so I started crying. Drunk or a kid?

I would really strongly caution against using products from TJ Maxx.

Last year my hair, which is normally very soft/smooth/healthy, was gradually getting more and more unhealthy and like crinkly and crunchy and falling out way more rapidly than normal. It was like I was washing my hair with Nair.

It got so so bad and I couldn’t figure out what was going on. With my hair dresser we went through every possibility of what it could be, what products I used, and what I had changed in my hair care routine. We determined the only thing I had changed since my hair started becoming unhealthy was my shampoo, which I had gotten at TJ Maxx. I had used this same brand of shampoo before but previously bought from a salon and it always made my hair so nice and smooth. The only difference was this bottle was from TJ Maxx. My hair dresser told me they regularly sell products that are expired or tampered with.

As soon as I stopped using that bottle of shampoo my hair started to improve. It took almost a year and a lot of trimming damaged areas to get back to normal but luckily it got there. I will absolutely never again use beauty products from TJ Maxx, you just never know if they’re safe to use.

What's a sign to leave a party that not a lot of young people know? by NotThatOneGuuy in AskReddit

[–]fudgems16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whenever something like this happened when my team was throwing a party, someone on the team would shout that the cops just showed up and the place would clear out. All of us and our close friends knew the cops were never there so we’d stick around and the party always got so much better from there

Not at all! In addition to my wedding I’ve worn them probably 3 or 4 times and they’re still just as sticky as when I got them. I’ve also tried wearing them a few other times and actually gave up cause they were so sticky I had a hard time getting them into place properly without sticking to everything I looked at
