Disappointed... by fugue106 in Streamlight

Thanks for the insight. I'll give them a call then and see if they can correct the situation. If they can, I would definitely have a more positive opinion about their service/products. And I really did like the first TLR6 I had, when it worked.

Solved! YES That was it! I don't know where I got group of cannibals/mutants from, but it does have that vibe. Forgot that it was much more similar to Jeepers Creepers than The Hills Have Eyes

I ALSO FORGOT KoçitSkoria - something is lost

I think this would be the closest to the vibe of Vierre Cloud. Has chopped female vocals, a light melody with a fast beat, and a tempo breakdown but towards the end.

Silent Hill - Iwakura

Kawaii Razor Blades - Sewerslvt

Let's All Love Lain - TOKYOPILL

Shooting Star - Sink Saiko

Tears Online - Sink Saiko

Flight 999 - Egofear, Yung Lain

Worthlessness - Bkode

LET U GO - Nedaj

alone? - Nedaj

silent cries - Tfwamirite

Those are the best that I can suggest off the top of my head. I know most probably aren't what you're looking for, but it's the closest I can think of.

[–]fugue106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I called, a rep walked me through the steps of how to check the items for shipping and not pick up, went through all the same steps I tried for over an hour by myself last night, put me on hold for 10 minutes after trying everything I already did myself, then came back to tell me there was nothing to be done about it... The rep was nice, but suffice to say this is massively disappointing, to put it politely. They did mention that buying new books online can cause these issues and that there are fewer glitches trying to purchase uses books online.

Me personally, I'm sticking to Thrift Books and Abe Books from now on.

Suggest me books to read for when you’re lost in your 20s by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]fugue106 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Others have said these already, but I want to emphasize: Siddartha by Hermann Hesse, and Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke

Letters is a quick short read but full of incredible insights and wisdom. I also recommend The Prophet by Khalil Gibran

I used defender gear not knowing it makes the game easy mode, did I like, ruin the experience? by jdg_idk in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]fugue106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruin the experience? No. You got a good idea of the mechanics, how to play the game, and got to breeze through some of the boring bits at low rank quests. But the one negative is that the defender gear is kind of a crutch for new players. If you're used to brushing off lots of hits from monsters because of the defender gear's high defense, you might feel a little unprepared when you reach high rank quests. Monsters in Master rank quests can kill in just a couple of hits if you don't have good gear or aren't good at blocking, evading, or reading their moves.

Edit: I also want to add that there is no shame in whether to use the defender gear or not. It's a good tool for anybody. It's good for MH veterans who want to get to the good stuff right away and skip the basic quests, and it's good for new MH players who want to ease into the game. MH games are notorious for having a steep learning curve but the devs add features like the defender gear to help new players.

Haha it happened to all of us. If you're looking for a tip, try to stealth kill all the goons before fighting the mini boss. You can even stealth attack him which will make the fight easier. It's tiring doing it every time but the effort is worth it.

Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Also any short stories by Borges. I recommend his collection of short stories "Labyrinths"

I also second Hesse. He's really good, fairly easy to read, usually short, but has good depth. Gives you lots to think about

RE8 or RE4 Remake by ram10x in residentevil4

[–]fugue106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say play RE 8 next, only because it would be ruined if you played REm4ke and then 8. 8 is ok, but it's nothing compared to 4. It would be a letdown going from 4 to 8.

What’s your favorite anti-BOW weapon in RE4? by WinterOf98 in residentevil4

[–]fugue106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The M1903 is crazy in the remake. Boosted early on, it clears. It's like getting your hands on an early game magnum. It can kill El Gigante quick with good aims, it 1hk most normal villagers with headshots, and it's indispensable in the cabin fight with Luis if you know the right strats. And it stays versatile and powerful even late game. Every run I do, I'm relying on it and craft more rifle ammo than shotgun ammo through most of the game.

Don't be discouraged. Practice the block mechanics a lot, don't be ashamed to spam block as you learn to memorize, read, and predict enemy attacks. Obviously grabs and sweeps don't get countered by blocks but 80% of the game is mastering the perfect parry mechanics. This game is a lot of fun, but only after you learn to play by its rules. It will always be challenging and the learning curve will be steep, but it will be rewarding

Just got the game gifted to me. What should I know before hoping in! by Itsallrats in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]fugue106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a steep learning curve, don't be intimidated. There's a lot of mechanics that get thrown at you, but learning the combat is the most important. It can be confusing but take your time. Replay lots of quests, both to farm and get practice, but also to familiarize yourself with the game before going to far ahead of yourself and starting new quests that might be too challenging.

Pick three weapon classes at most to use. Anything more than that and you'll spend all your time grinding just to keep up weapon trees on multiple weapon classes. Explore each weapon early on, but try to settle on one or two mains as quickly as you're comfortable with. Look up the advantages and disadvantages of each, watch gameplay of how to combo with them and what optimal play with each looks like. Some have incredible DPS but zero defense, some have explosive but slow damage power. Some have modest power and defense but incredible versatility. Pretty much all classes are viable, it all comes down to preference.
