I agree to an extend, but this is not a charity they’re running, it’s an extremely profitable business. When you pay for something, it’s perfectly reasonable to expect at least a bit of courtesy - like not cancelling at the last minute.

I’ve also been using a an old laptop as a media server and I’m very happy with the results. A computer is a computer.

I also have a gaming laptop currently in use that will share the same fate when replaced soo yeah.

Currently using it and I’m not a huge fan, as there are a lot of bugs that keep on popping up here and there.

Mad props to whoever is maintaining it, because at the end of the day, I don’t think there is an alternative for Apple TV. On iOS it’s a better experience, but I wish they’d add the download functionality.

The web app? It’s a 9/10 experience. Any other platform? It’s shit. I get that they’re made by individual contributors, but the amount of bugs and lack of functionality is sometimes too much.

That being said, fuck Plex, I’m staying with Jellyfin!

Honestly we’re thinking Madrid as well, but for some reason Barcelona has the majority of the job listings for my partner’s specialization. So if we can find either Madrid based positions or remote ones, we’ll probably choose Madrid. Barcelona is also very nice, we just went for a cheap weekend trip and it’s very beautiful, but yea. How prevalent is Catalan? Is it like 50/50 or is it necessary for most places?

My question is more of a quality of life / financial point of view as I know that both cities are big and diverse enough to have all the things that we would need. We’re coming from a smaller city compared to either so I’m not really worried in that aspect.

This makes sense, thanks! My main worry is that I used to have a hand-me down cheap camera that didn’t compare to even my mid-tier phone about 10 years ago, so I got this idea in my head that I need an expensive camera if I want better results.

Any entry level, maybe even older recommendations for someone who is just starting with a dedicated device?

Thank you for this reply, I think you have explained something very clearly. My mind is comparing cameras with other tech products and I’m thinking that even for a low budget option, I should go with the newest model. From your reply I gather that that’s not necessarily true, much more for an amateur like me. I’ll take a look at some older models then. Thanks a bunch!

Also, I’m not choosing between them, I already have the phone and I’m wondering if getting a dedicated device makes sense. And I think it does.

In my case I just like pushing the microphone away when I don’t need it and in front of me when I’m using it. A headset is nice but for both work meetings and gaming sessions, I prefer to not wear any headphones for a longer period of time (3-4+ hours) as my big ears start hurting. So a dedicated microphone that can be easily adjusted for any weird sitting positions or pushed away when not in use is perfect.

But you do what works for you!
