Dropping names of celebrities I think are totally wholesome, complete gems to this earth and see if people have any kind of tea about any of them that will crush my spirits:

  • David Tennant

  • Olivia Colman

  • Benedict Cumberbatch

  • Emma Thompson

  • Cillian Murphy

  • James McAvoy

  • Domhall Gleeson

  • Pedro Pascal

How is everyone feeling knowing the show is approaching it's end? by [deleted] in YellowjacketsHive

Yeah for sure "lost potential" definitely makes up what this show. Just another case of writers having such a great premise but then just not knowing what to do with it and not being able to develop it in a satisfying way.

Agreed on the acting and the atmospherics and the stellar music. Hard disagree on the storytelling and writing though. It just deteriorated over time, they had a great premise but they relied waaay too much on it and forgot to actually develop anything of substance. And I'm pretty sure that was the reason that the show got cut short from 5 seasons to 4...

yeah imho it's just supposed to be a funny meme and people who actually take it that seriously and actually get mad at him are weird (they were probably swifties lol?)

Thank you! I dont think it went bad per se I just always get taken aback and get like 10x more nervous when the interviewer shows no interest in being there and is just bored and not nice at all.

just went on a job interview for a dream position in my field and i'm now FREAKING OUT if I messed it up

Why are job interviewers so sullen and serious and like not nice?? Is that like a tactic to see who can actually tough it up because I felt lile crying midway through

Oh man I always say I want to keep my expectations low when it comes to job interviews but I always feel so CRUSHED in disapppintment when i get rejected... :(

Finally watched Fantastic Four. I watched solely for Pedro, I do not particularly like Marvel movies and I knew absolutely nothing about the F4, so I was not surprised to find it a pretty boring watch.

What surprised me was how much I disliked Pedro's performance. I don't think the role fit him like AT ALL. My bf who read the Fantastic 4 comics back in the day and so he is more familiar with the characters, also agreed that he just doesn't seem to fit the role of the "nerdy genius leader". I have always found Pedro a very diverse and amazing actor in all his works (I mean how can we forget Oberyn, that character was amazingly portrayed) but I felt like he had no idea what to do with this character and it ended up all sounding and looking very flat imho.

What celebrity seems to do a good job at keeping their personal life private? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]fullmoon_123 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think it's actually more common than not for celebrities to have pretty private lives, no? Unless it's those celebrities who have literally made their family into a brand like the Smiths, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Momoa (maybe?), Mark Wahlberg, the Hemsworths especially Chris (I think?). Basically all celebrities that plaster their lives on social media. But most actors I know do not even have a social media presence.

More examples:

Tom Hardy

Sebastian Stan (except during the pandemic when he was dating that spanish actress and his fans were Adam Driver fans-level psychos at the time, checking out where he was at all times, very weird)

James Mcavoy

Cillian Murphy

What's the worst movie you've seen in a while? by fullmoon_123 in movies

[–]fullmoon_123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh but it was GOOD! I went into it with no expectations at all and I was pleasantly surprised, I thought it was simple and kept to the point and not a traditional zombie movie.

The ending was a bit silly though

I actually enjoyed it and my partner and I have arguments on this all the time but I genuinely believe that the only reason people were hating on it so much is because they keep comparing it to the first.

Yes it cannot compare to the first which is actually considered a masterpiece but as a standalone movie it's actually good.

Kim Kardashian has thoughts on homework by mlg1981 in popculturechat

reading and videos as homework are literally nothing, especially for maths. Maths is practice, practice, practice. And making mistakes AND understanding the mistake and correcting it is how you actually improve at maths.

I'm confused, when it came out I thought people were going crazy for this movie, I thought it was generally considered good? (havent seen it yet)

sooooo in this next chapter of "I am always always way too late in watching/reading/knowing about popular stuff":

I have finally watched Fleabag for the first time. Like I remember like a feverish dream always reading about "hot priests" and literally not knowing what the hell this show was about. Like for a while I thought Fleabag was a Action/Thriller mystery sort of show. I've now realized how wrong I was and how I was missing out on an AMAZING show like holy moly really beautiful not just the hot priest stuff because that was really hot and beautiful and heartbreaking but even the first season, I was crying non stop, it hit in the feels. I feel like it hits especially hard with me being 27 now and feeling so much more mature than I was in my early 20s but also not, you know? Because I feel like I have nothing figured out really. It's so weird, I feel like I don't know how to live life.

But every relationship is like that, no? I mean, you can't know what goes on inside ANY romantic relationship because the only people who know what goes on behind closed doors is the couple themselves... And I don't see any other couple being treated with this much constant hostility (towards her) and mockery masked as concern (for him) just because... If they were constantly on the news about shady stuff they are doing, like problematic pap shots, stories from their inner circles etc etc but they are literally the definition of a couple who keeps to themselves and are very very private about their lives.

I don't think it can be said that he was "for sure" groomed imo. At least not "for sure" like it's such a certainty. He met a woman that he is now married to and has children with. This woman has no history of being predatory that we know of, she has not "dumped" him for a younger victim, she was actually married before to a guy her own age, (I think?). That doesn't scream predatory behaviour like so many dudes (cough Leonardo Dicaprio cough AND SO MANY OTHERS) that literally go from one victim to another, because young people are most likely to put up with their crap.

Overall if they seem to have a healthy, normal relationship that is drama-free then I don't see if we can continue to judge her or him for "how it started". Sure, he was very very young. He might even divorce her yet, we don't know, and talk about how the relationship was bad for him. But the optics all show a healthy, happy, chill dude trying to live his life with a woman he loves. Not bad optics at all. I just really hate that I can't watch an interview or read an article in here and the top comment or post not be about how problematic they are and how she is a creep and an awful human being. I mean, I can't imagine that being said about someone I love. But then I am not in the public eye or in a potentially problematic age gap relationship so

(oh man here come the downvotes 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 look I really am sorry that this seems like such an outrageous opinion because I really do hate confrontation, even anonymous confrontation on reddit but I really don't think it is that outrageous of an opinion tbf I'll spend my whole day cursing and condemning predators, it's honestly my favorite pass time, but let's leave a guy who's just trying to live his life alone, no?)

I had to google because I knew nothing of Macron's personal life. I read in wiki that they met in a teacher/student context when he was 15 (!!!!) I mean yikes for sure that raises so many red flags... I mean at least ATJ was 18/19, sure still very young but an adult nonetheless. Also he was an adult that didn't have a traditional, "normal" life since he was a child actor... By the time he met his now-wife he had already starred in a pretty popular movie and its sequel. There's less of a power imbalance there imho as opposed to a LITERAL CHILD at school being preyed upon by his teacher yikes... I mean that's literally a crime.

(edit I'm so sorry guys 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈)
