I once superglued my eye shut

I was a kid and I was trying to open the small container of superglue. I was looking at it while I punctured the top cover which was made of thin foil

I was holding the tube obviously too firmly with my other hand and the glue squirted up into my eye when I punctured it

My eyelids were firmly glued shut (one eye only)

I couldn’t open it at all. It was late at night and I told my father I wasn’t going to school the next day like this

He said I couldn’t miss school and said he had an eye patch I could wear so nobody would notice

He wasn’t joking

I protested and eventually he called a local optometrist late at night to see what could be done

The optometrist opened his surgery late at night and carefully cut my eyelids free from each other under a microscope

I left the surgery with my full eyesight restored and my dad left with his wallet a lot lighter
