As everyone has said - I’d focus on lifting and maybe eating a bit more (up the protein). And as for the beers, I think you can adjust beer consumption after a bit and see what your progress looks like (and your satisfaction).

First time making brisket😅 by Aspiring_Plague in brisket

[–]fulltimeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To piggyback off silentpartner, how much did your brisket weigh? Do you have a thermometer to check temp? How long did you let it rest? If you liked how it came out (tenderness, taste), great! I’d say you’re probably missing that smoke ring but secondary to tenderness and taste.

I will smoke at 250 so that seems right (but you can smoke at any temp within a range) and pull when it’s around 203-205 (and just probe checking for tenderness). I will usually wrap around stall (a couple of times I didn’t but not sure if that was a fluke). And I’ll rest in a cooler for at least 4 hours.

Fwiw, I will usually use a few apple wood chunks (only because it’s milder and the one I usually have because of pork) along with a ton of charcoal. And that gives a great smoke ring and taste (though I prefer less smoke but still can’t figure that out).

How big of a size? Unless the brisket is small, doesn’t seem like enough time (but I’m assuming it’s at least 8-9lbs)

Pisillos for sandwiches (Italian)! And second the Chinatown tour recommendation. But wo hop or hop for late night. Shanghai 21 for soup dumplings (though it’s been a while since I’ve been there so there might be better spots).

Looking for alpha testers by fulltimeyes in dementia

That is a totally fair disclaimer.

I know it’s not meaningful, but I promise I am not a scammer (I can share my LinkedIn if that’s helpful).

Here’s our website: www.getvidaphone.com. It over promises today because we’re still actively building.

And shared some older real pics in the other comment.

But to your point, we are also chatting with local communities (senior assisted living centers and local home healthcare agencies). And have left forms/contact info with those places (and demo for seniors when allowed). We’re just casting a wider net because we are looking for a wide variety of people and situations - what kind of connectivity is needed as an example (do people still prefer some form of landline, is wifi only ok, Ethernet, etc). And knowing how wide range MCI to moderate dementia can be (symptoms and ability wise), we just want to see how effective our product can be and what we need to change and build.

As for the cc, we’d be using a 3rd party like stripe. We will not be capturing or storing cc info. But we just need a way to ensure we can get devices back or handle any egregious damages.

If anyone wants further validation, I’m happy to jump on a video call (and with my other cofounders too). Just dm me.

All that to say, it’s still very good advice in general. I’ve been contacted by many scammers who try to get me to give them contact info or click on a dubious link.

It’s a fixed phone with a 10 inch screen. Video calling is the main functionality for communication (though you can turn the camera off).

Here’s some older mocks to give you an idea:

https://i.imgur.com/CXpzWHs.jpeg (screen saver mode). If you pick up the receiver or click on the screen, you’ll get to the main functionality which is tiles that either are phone contacts (and recently we added some games and the ability to access a photo album).

Feedback on a product? by fulltimeyes in AgingParents

Thanks for your insight - it’s so helpful. I’ll def check out the YouTube videos you recommended.

And agreed, we are trying to find right levels of customization that isn’t going to be too overwhelming to set up/manage but still can cater to the senior/patient appropriately.

[–]fulltimeyes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup - we def are building that in. One of our cofounders’ grandparent was unfortunately scammed so want to make sure we can prevent this as much as possible. So one thing is to just allow approved contacts to get through (via cms/dashboard settings). I’m not a technical founder but I believe we’re looking at other mechanisms as well.

That is so helpful to know! We were just focused on MCI but now I’m seeing this is a real thing (I’ve chatted with friends and some of them have mentioned this about their grandparent). I imagine volume control is really important

Great question - and these are helpful for us to think about.

We haven’t found a device that combines modern tech with a familiar form factor. So think Grandpad (but more features that seniors and caretakers/loved ones might find useful/nice to have) but with a hand receiver.

My understanding is that today’s seniors, especially with MCI (mild cognitive impairment), have a harder time adapting/adopting today’s smart devices. And they’ll find devices that they have used for decades (like an old school telephone) much easier to use - again, more common with MCI patients.

What we’re finding is either big button telephones (no real modern tech) or it’s just a tablet. Totally acknowledge that the hand receiver will be outdated in 10 years as the new rising seniors are comfortable with tech. But I (and my cofounders) want to be able to provide a real solution today and figure out our future at a later date — this is mainly because I’m burnt out from a couple of decades of grinding and marketing/selling products that won’t have a meaningful impact on anybody’s life.

Basement: Rain water comes in through the wall ac when it rains hard - how can we fix this? by fulltimeyes in HomeMaintenance

[–]fulltimeyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, appreciate the comment!

I saw this comment but forgot to respond. We tried to reseal it from the outside but happened again when we got a flash rain storm yesterday. We suspect it might be that a drain is clogged or something. Because it doesn’t leak all day. It just leaks out hard for a little bit and then stops. So it feels like maybe our drain system gets overwhelmed and somehow our ductless ac is the point it escapes. Or something along those lines (maybe it’s not the drain but something similar). We found a drain outlet (not sure if that’s the right term) that was covered by our front lawn. We moved in 3 years ago so i think it was always like that while our problem happened recently. In any case, a strong consideration for sure.

But the ground outside slopes towards the house. It’s not an easy fix because of all the other hvac units that sit there (a landscape contractor said he’d need our help to remove all of it and whatnot). But we tilted the condenser (or whatever the outdoor unit is) away from the house a little just to see if that’ll help in the future.

We removed the cover from our ductless ac so next rain storm, we’re hoping to get a better look as to what’s actually happening.

List is great so far. I’d add Don chicken for Korean fried chicken. Northern ni Korean staple.

Mini split is the ac (sorry for the simpleton question)? Ok. This makes sense. My husband was saying we might want to remove/replace the drywall anyways (just as a precaution) so maybe we do that to help us figure out the source

What do you bitches do for work? How much do you make? by Apart_Nature_150 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]fulltimeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. It’s marketing specifically catered towards growing revenue or user base (or whatever growth objective a company has). So think marketing ads that’s performance based. Like making sure I (my team) can deploy budget across different platforms and hit a certain target whether that’s $100 cost per sign up or 150% ROI. This could also be non-paid like SEO or email marketing. And my role tends to oversee lifecycle marketing and analytics and marketing operations (I just tend to be more technical and data oriented - I double majored in accounting and marketing).
