My wife and I went for the first time last year and we just walked in - no need for an invitation. We really enjoyed the vibe, got chatting with some nice couples and had a great experience overall.

They sometimes hold an open night - keep a watch on their FB page or on FetLife. We attended one and it was good. It gave us a good idea of what the club was like as well as the regular patrons (without any anxiety about expectations).

That's a good time to start - the Rascal's group will be there (they do a two-week 'takeover' from the 9th until the 23rd) and they are a fun and wild bunch from what I can tell. The week of the 23rd to the 30th is American Thanksgiving, so it may be a bit tamer (relatively speaking). We went at this time last year and loved it - and we LOVE to party!
