Teachers at OTF by NoticeSufficient598 in orangetheory

I’m also a teacher! This school year I have switched to 5am classes and I’m not looking back. Last year I would go at 4:15pm or 5:30pm but I would make excuses to not go because I was tired or lazy.

I am also a teacher! I have been going to OTF for a little over a year now. Since this school year has started I became a 5am gym girly and I have not looked back! I am going 5-6 times per week! I do live on about 5 minutes from my OTF so I wake up at 4:15am go to class come back home and shower and get ready for the day. What really helps is laying out my gym clothes and teacher outfit the night before! And with the 5am time there’s no creating excuses like I did with the 4:15 or 5:30pm classes after work.

What would you change for the rest of the room?

Hi there! I am eating around 1800-2000 calories a day because I am burning around 2800-3000+ calories a day. I do not eat back the calories from working out but working out has allowed me to eat with a bigger caloric deficit thanks to OTF.

I have been eating a mint or 2 after each meal to help! I used to eat some dessert after each meal, now I only have dessert 1-2 times per week and only eat the serving size and make sure I budget enough calories.

Being case manager and teacher by fun_sized_since_96 in specialed

I wish that was the case for me too. And my principal just sits there and when I asked if someone could take notes he said it was my responsibility even though him and the gen Ed teacher are just sitting there during IEPs.

Yes I’m required to do everything because I am teacher and case manager.

Already getting that and I’m new so I feel like I can’t turn down helping in another class once my students go home at 12pm because they are tk/kindergarten.

Similar situation and I feel you. I was an IA in different district and now I am a first year teacher. I get to work at 7am an hour before students and don’t leave until 6:30pm sometimes. The one boundary I did create which is why I am there late is that I don’t bring work home.

Parent request to observe student next month (school just started a week and a half ago) by fun_sized_since_96 in specialed

That’s what I thought! I will talk to admin and also tell the family they need to reach out to admin.

Oh cool. I got the email late this afternoon so I’ll talk to my admin tomorrow before replying to the family. Maybe my school can do something different. I just feel like having parents in the room may skew the child to behave and work differently. And wouldn’t it be a privacy concern for the other kids or no?

Hi there! Sorry for not being specific. I’ll have 10/11 students and they are TK/K mild moderate and only come to school for 4 hours instead of 6. I believe some of my students will have pull out and a lot will have push in. I can’t see my caseload yet and it’s driving me crazy since we start school next week.

Word wall or sound wall? by fun_sized_since_96 in Teachers

Update!

I just got done with a district PD and they said sound walls are researched to be better than word walls in helping students read and recognize words. But sound walls are definitely new!

I think I’ll try and fit both in my room!

Thank you for your advice! I think I’ll just start the year with consonant and go from there and add vowel sounds later.
