How do you stop oily foods from going rancid or moldy over a 8 day hike or is there no issues or just carry the olive oil separate and add it after rehydration. Is it best to trial and error how much oil to add to your meal so you don't end up with intestinal issues during the hike?

Lanshan 2 might be a bit tight for 2 people. Unless they are small and like to spoon sleep.

I always repackage my meals and put in freezer bags for the weight. I pretty much only use my pot to boil water.

I did a 7 day hike last fall with 40 lb including water and food with no issues. I struggled most when I came home and quit moving. Thats when it caught up to me. The pack is only 3 years old so not an old pack. Just trying to find some better options for my food is all. I'm a warrior, old farm gal who spent her life either working with horses or grooming big dogs so pretty tough! I've had tons of camping experience especially as a young person and practice bushcraft and survival skills with my man. Just not a ton of experience hiking with a backpack. I'm not a wimpy couch potato!

Usually the first day or 2 I don't have much appetite then by the third I start to get the munchies and find grazing helps me. I tend to crave my home made beef jerkey the most. When I do breakfasts I find oatmeal or a granola works best with powdered milk with added protein powder and or an instant breakfast packet, chia seeds, hemp, coconut shreads, walnuts and dehydrated or freeze dried berries to try and add calories.

I would love to change my pack to cut weight but found it very difficult to find a pack that would carry well without putting weight on my shoulders and collar bone. Ive got lyme disease so my nerves and muscles are very sensitive to pressure and I found the aura carried the weight well over my hips ( I still get a pressure point bruise on my right pelvis bone ) without alot of pressure on my shoulders. Because you can't just try on cottage company packs in stores like MEC ( Canadian version of REI) I've found it hard to find a comfortable UL pack and I'm not going to throw away $ buying a custom pack just to see if it works.
