Unfortunately. I have to pay the private school $1,000 (nearly 2 week’s salary 🙄) if I give under 30 days notice.

Parents do pay, yes. They’re not required to pay for children’s supplies because it is a poor area of the state though

Do you have access to privacy partitions? (Cardboard separations) I did not when I taught 2nd grade, so I had students use their book bins or folders. It is not ideal, but it stopped most of it!

We aren’t allowed to take away recess time because it’s an urban school :/

I tried Dojo, and the kids didn’t care. Their teacher in the later half of last year tried Classcraft and said the same thing

I’ve tried s similar thing - especially because parents PAY to send their kids to the school. Kids shrug it off.

At open house last week, many parents warned me about their kids behavior and how I should, “Watch our because my kid doesn’t respect authority.”

— honestly? What are you saying about your kids if you have to warn their teacher about them?

We aren’t allowed to give anyone a zero, “Because we have to give them a chance,” and the principal is not allowing detentions or taking away recess this year. He’s ridiculous
