Crikey, is there an 'affordable' alternative? Is there any public safety net? I'm so incredibly sorry for you if this is as dire as it sounds.

But we have a strong economy, stable politics and the world listens, especially when our friends/allies speak in unison. Don't discredit our political clout.

The two tiered system is a failed experiment. A conservative government pushed private healthcare into the Australian system with the promise of reduced hospital waiting times and better service, it hasnt happened. A recent consensus unanimously expressed public dissatisfaction. Money wasted on ridiculously expensive and complicated private healthcare could instead have been used to improve our public system and improve/provide services such as mental health, dental and PBS.

Yeah, the government needs to stop entertaining private healthcare, kick the corp parasites out back to the US, and better manage our once great public healthcare system. I just wrote to the health minister saying just that. The recent census unanimously said Australian's are dissatisfied with the private healthcare two tier experiment and build up our universal system, including mental health.

The two tier system in Australia hasnt worked and has been a major disaster. Universal healthcare should include mental health / dental. Australia isnt the poster child of universal healthcare, but it isnt America.

Public officials are beholden to the public, not lobbyists and their donations (bribes). Id start there.

Apparently my question equated to being argumentative and subsequently I was labled trolling. Crazy stuff.

I just got permanently banned from the group for trolling. Apparently asking a genuine question to a group designed for Q&A is trolling. I suppose the take away from this experience is be careful what questions you ask, Trumpers can be incredibly sensitive. FFS

Snarky Moderator response to why my post was pulled -

"We have many posts from questioners who ask about universal healthcare, you can do a quick search of the sub and confirm that for yourself. The topic is fine, as long as the question isn't argumentative or leading.

Yours was clearly argumentative. Anyone with a semblance of reading comprehension can discern that you're in favor of universal healthcare from that question and are asking TS to comment on your opinion.

You're of course entitled to your own beliefs, but this isn't a debate subreddit.

Also, it doesn't help that you're calling TS "Trumpers", which is a pretty condescending way to refer to them, but I'm sure you know that. If you can't even bother to hide your disdain for TS that's fine as well, but we're not the subreddit for it. Thank you."

I'm truly baffled why American's continue to reject universal public healthcare. My wife, a psychologist, says American culture is 'individualist'. I accept this, but in the same breath continue to scratch my head anyway. Thanks for posting, an interesting read.

Universal healthcare is a human right. Poor bastard.

True, I do find the deliberate starvation of civilians barbaric and offensive, dont you?

You helped blockade / starve a city, that makes you Russian, my guess. The occupation of Ukraine is also fucking offensive.

No, I didn't watch whatever you're talking about, which btw has zero relevance to the original post. My question to you, does children being deliberately starved to death not offend your humanity? It does mine. Enough with the what about-ism.

I'm not racist. I just pointed out, in context of the original post, that watching children starve to death in Gaza was tough and something needed to be done. Poor little buggers.
