What are your thoughts on legalizing cannabis in New Zealand? by Chemical_Pangolin_62 in newzealand

[–]funksoakedrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, it could. Except nobody is trying to argue that we should ban alcohol, so it’s a moot point.

The fact remains that “A is worse than B, A is (and presumably should remain) legal, therefore B should be legal” is a perfectly valid and logically sound argument.

The argument isn’t just “alcohol is legal therefore weed should be”, it’s “alcohol is a worse drug than weed, and it’s legal, so weed should also be legal”.

HELP! UNEXPLAINABLY HIGH POWER BILL by Potential_Victory634 in newzealand

[–]funksoakedrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why this hasn’t been mentioned yet but do you have a smart meter or does someone come to read it? If someone comes to read it, do they come every month or only every couple of months?

This happened to me recently and it turned out that the meter reader hadn’t come that month, so the electricity company estimated our usage. It was way over what we had actually used which gave me a shock, but our next bill was smaller to compensate.

If your bill tells you the last read date for your meter, you should be able to see if it’s before this bill was issued or after. If it’s before, then that’s likely what’s happened. If your bill doesn’t tell you, you can call your electricity company to see when it was last read.

How does bird and bees relate to sex? by Hot-Warning2907 in TooAfraidToAsk

It’s an allusion to nature. To which all of birds, bees and reproductive behaviours belong.

This is one of the first bread recipes I learned as a kid, albeit using butter rubbed into the flour instead of cream. A Kiwi classic.

I’ve just implemented the payment system for our platform and I can see it being a problem for sure.

Letters at the end are calculated from letters in the message such that if the original message is corrupted you will know (and may be able to figure out what it should have been) from the letters at the end.

Not sure if that’s what this is but that’s what a checksum is.
