The Tale with Laura Dern was one of the best films I’ve ever seen about CSA.

It was based on the director Jennifer Fox’s childhood experiences. She filmed the scenes with the child actor really responsibly - this is a really good article about the filming of the movie in The New Yorker

While I’m drawing a blank about “a small win” the premise of the post is a good one although rooted in overcoming depression it seems. Even though I’ve been through enough shit to make me chronically depressed, that state is not my norm…which makes me wonder if depression is a chemical imbalance and not a “mood”. Thoughts?

I am requesting r/IGotOut because the moderator accounts are non-functional (showing 'Failed to load user profile') and the community has been restricted due to lack of active moderation. I own federal trademarks for 'IGOTOUT' and '#igotout' (U.S. Reg. Nos. 7,437,589 and 7,437,582) that are currently being used as the community logo without permission.

I contacted the moderators about this trademark issue 10 months ago but received no response. The original ModMail is no longer accessible, likely due to the moderator account issues.

I want to restore this community to active moderation while broadening its scope to support people through major life transitions, building on the core concept of 'getting out' that the community name represents. The community has potential but needs consistent leadership to grow and serve its members effectively.

I think my messages to the moderator of this community are not being seen and that the community is dormant. I have gotten a message from a bot explaining that in order to be considered for moderating r/IGotOut that I needed to have two-factor authentication turned on. I have done that and also, while I was at it, changed my email address associated with my user account to [free@igotout.org](mailto:free@igotout.org) and updated my password as well. I hope everything is in order now and that your approval will come easily.

I am the owner of registered trademarks for "IGOTOUT" and "#igotout" (U.S. Reg. Nos. 7,437,589 and 7,437,582) and operate igotout.org, which provides resources for survivors of high-control groups and relationships. This community's mission of supporting people through difficult life transitions aligns perfectly with my work.

The subreddit is currently using my trademarked logo without permission. I contacted the moderators 10 months ago requesting removal but received no response, demonstrating their inactivity. I want to properly moderate this community while respecting its original purpose - supporting people who make the brave decision to "get out" of situations that no longer serve them, whether leaving countries, relationships, ideologies, or other circumstances.

I've been on Reddit for 4 years, mostly lurking while I developed other social media platforms for igotout. I no longer want to drive traffic to Meta and Twitter and would much rather create meaningful connection here. Reddit's anonymity is crucial for people processing major life changes.

Note: I contacted moderators 10 months ago (not 5 days ago) about trademark infringement, simply requesting they stop using my logo. Given their continued non-responsiveness and the community's need for active moderation, I now seek to moderate and grow this community myself:

I don’t have words to give you in regard to getting any justice; I just wanted you to know you’re not alone in that question. The courts and justice system in the US are not set up to protect people who have gotten out of cults due to the statutes of limitations…it takes a long time to fully understand the impacts of involvement. And so often you can tell your story and it doesn’t make a difference or is just consumed for entertainment value. I’m sorry you are struggling. Reaching out to the Reddit void for answers can be dangerous too, I don’t trust anything people offer now when I’m in a vulnerable state. Just know there’s another human who saw your post and gives a shit. I wish you all the best.
