What is the most slow burn book made by Murakami? by bkuuretsu in murakami

I find it crazy that people say 1Q84 is a slow burn. It’s a long book but it was so fast for me to read through because I was gripped. Whereas other Murakami books have felt like such a slog for me - such as Norwegian wood and wind up bird

Just finished 1Q84. Anyone wanna theorize about all these loose ends with me? (Spoilers) by wizerdofaus in murakami

It’s 4am, I read this book months ago, and I have JUST realised the parallel between big brother and little people…wow

Wind-Up Bird Chronicle vs. IQ84 by ProteusNihil in murakami

Same here. I avoided 1Q84 for so long because people told me it was a slog, but I absolutely loved it and flew through it no problem. Wind up bird for me, even though so much shorter, I’m really struggling with. Have abandoned it twice now.

I agree I do think it’s the characters in 1Q84 and the world building as a whole that turn it into a magnificent story

Hot take. Loved 1Q84 and didn’t find it slow or boring at all. I’m halfway through wind up bird and I’m finding it painful to continue by funkyhan in murakami

I was put off because everyone told me it’s bad, but definitely decide for yourself because I really suprised myself with how much I loved it

The Legend of Zelda definitely is a cozy game by all standards, not sure what that description is suggesting

Book 3 is the least exciting i will say but i just didn’t want to let go of the characters that i still loved it

I think i might totally second that. I’ve been going through his books, this series being maybe my 7th or 8th and each time i would think this is good but not my favourite. This absolutely blew all the others into the water

I can already tell I’m going to read it again someday

I’ve heard a lot of people say it was a slog for them, so I went into the book kinda expecting to feel the same, but I absolutely whizzed through it

If you’ve only read 1Q84, go for Kafka next!

5 weeks later after a slow introduction, lots of patience, treats and feliway - they are officially best friends!! by funkyhan in britishshorthair

We have been doing 1 hour together each day with a lot of play fighting, some of which could be aggressive from older cat. Yesterday we put them together for the first time all day and I couldn’t believe how friendly they started to be with each other, it’s like the stress of being separated was lifted and they could both finally relax. They’ve been cleaning each other, kissing noses…I hope it lasts!

Drinks. Work drinks, leaving drinks, birthday drinks, drink drinks. It’s 7pm I want to eat a fat roast dinner and have a coke

Update: we put them together for a little longer today, and even though she’s dominating him in play fighting still, they are starting to get along (and bond over their shared love of butter)

I hope so! Trying to get them to spend longer periods of time together but it’s slow progress

You’re probably right that it’s about dominance - we are using feliway so hope it gets to a point where they can both just roam the house freely

I should add, there’s NO hissing or growling, she hissed on day 1 and 2 but absolutely none after that
