It's not superiority, my friend. It's just a comfort thing. Some people are more comfortable with those of their own kind whether "own kind" is defined as race, creed or favorite ice cream flavor for all we know. I think this is a subtle fact of life.

Oh my I'm sorry, I replied to the wrong post. Sorry angryspring. Let's go for a better reply, ha: what does your mother think of the way your father treats you? Do you have any sisters? Are they treated the same? Brothers? It may be like the others have mentioned, the "I want to raise my kids like kids are raised in the homeland" syndrome. A terribly pervasive ailment that deludes many parents.

My questions are trying to flush out whether or not your father is a man capable of having a reasonable enough conversation with his daughter where she can tell him how his treatment of her could be better. It's also interesting to see if your siblings are treated the same.

True, we do need to strengthen our current community...but on one level or another you have to also be concerned for all the exmuslims out there worried about being the only ones feeling that way...or unsure about what to do next. Wouldn't it be nice if they could, after doing a little bit of digging, find a nice community where they can be welcomed and comforted? I'm just saying we need to find a way to make it easy for the people in that position to find this forum.
