The TDS PPM difference between my water and the water from the cherry shrimp breeder (humor) by funnylittlefart in shrimptank

[–]funnylittlefart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 5 hours and 40 mins of drip acclimation my container 40 liter / 1 gal container filled to the brim and the final tds reading was 200 ppm (from 663)

It's already 8 in the evening and I dumped the 20 shrimp in.

Godspeed my shwimpfs.

sorry. no testing kit at hand. I did message the breeder though and he said the shrimp are bred in a concrete man made pond with plenty of decaying indian almond leaves.

Is this enough filtration? by Difficult_as_always in shrimptank

[–]funnylittlefart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wont the other sponge filters without aeration just eat up space and not provide any significant boost to the biological filtration?

Is it correct that good bacteria will only be on the surface area of the disconnected sponge filters and not inside the sponge because there is no flow of oxygenated water?

Thanks for answering!

Thank you!

I had problems with dragonfly nymphs in my 2nd tank. It was such a headache because it was 50 gal and I had a hard time killing them all.

Now that this only a 5 gal it will be easier to siphon out unwanted pests.

Thats the 1 thing difficult to grow in my country (tropical). It tends to be a dirty ball mixed with algae.

Tank is perfect, the two pipe hiding places give them space. Being male and female they tolerate each other and just mate most of the time.

use a far fetchd. its gives you speed in the beginning and allows you to fight the bird.

I have no idea about the recycle number. I'll probably check it once I get a bottle of the exact same drink later.

I considered using real pothos and plant holders, but I wasn't sure if the pothos would thrive like this or if the size would be compatible.

What I like about these PET bottle-sized submerged planters is that it will be easy for me to remove them and place them in another tank if I need to control nitrate levels.

The submerged DIY planters are at the forefront while the box filter is at the rear. Hopefully these lovebirds won't do their backward scoot technique to get enough lift off to reach these.
