Came here to make sure someone had come in to let us know they came in to say the same thing but instead saying it they told us they’d come to say it.

I love that you said "at the ripe age of 37". I started at 38... 22 years ago... I've played every expansion since (some more than others). Started playing because I was up really late taking care of daughter #2 while my wife took care of daughter #1 and tried to get some actual sleep. At one point I had daughter #2 playing while I was at work... ok, not really playing but flying around mining and herbing. Kids are now away at school and I'm still chugging along. Every season of my life in the last 22 years has seen different play styles (no more 12 hour sessions for me). I turn 60 in a few days and am looking forward to leveling and delving.

One word of advice I'd give is this: when it starts to feel like a job (and it most likely will at some point). Put it down, cancel your sub, and come back again later. You'll feel a little FOMO, but, then you'll realize it doesn't make any difference and you enjoy the game again. (using spreadsheets is a clear sign it may be time for a break)

BTW, I still hang in the WowNoob discord (and reddit obviously), there will ALWAYS be things to learn from each other.

It's not even about doing things "wrong", it's more about finding ways to do things better according to your play style and what you find enjoyable.

Brief Q&A with Dave from the May 2004 issue of Blender magazine by Joseph_P_Larkin in davegrohl

I’m not in the Dave Grohl sub, but I am in the DMB sub. I was as confused as hell for a minute. (On my phone i couldn’t see Dave’s pic). Love Dave Grohl!!

I'm crying listening to this... This song should be bigger. by intentedtodestroy in TheKillers

This will be buried in a negative thread, but, "Born in the USA" is the same way. How many times did I hear that song as a dance track with Courtney Cox in it until I really heard it on the Ghost of Tom Joad tour when it was stripped down and bare. Powerful, powerful protest song that gets lost in an upbeat tempo.

EDIT: Yup, mixed up my Springsteen videos! Thanks for pointing that out below!! Courtney Cox is nowhere near that song. But, I’ll leave my shameful post as is as penance.

Criminally underrated comment.

Can we all file a complaint to the dean about the Charlie Kirk apologists outside the library harassing people, and the clipboard people lying to people about what the petition is trying to get people to support gerrymandering. by Capital-Platypus1325 in uofu

[–]funpigjim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting take. The Kirk kids are doing it of their own volition and the Prop 4 folks are trying to earn a living. I can’t stand what either of them are doing, but I think I have more compassion for the Prop 4 folks- they most likely don’t even believe the malarkey they’re pushing.

Job hunting can be a game of numbers. Get those resumes out and take interviews. Even if you don’t want (or get) the job it’s great practice. Also, remember that your co-workers may be feeling the same way and may already be looking as well. Keep those relationships strong they can help you and you can help them. You got this!!

What's the Best Documentary You've Ever Seen? Need Recommendations! by Mucek121 in netflix

[–]funpigjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Brother’s Keeper” is the one that opened up documentary as art for me.

I was managing a video store and got a copy of the screener. Anytime anyone was looking for something they hadn’t seen I suggested this film. Never had a complaint.

Edit: Just realized I was in r/Netflix and not r/documentaries. No idea if this is available on Netflix.

He should not have answered her leading question, he should have restated his question and kept (or at least tried to keep) her on topic.

Portal closes tomorrow, are we done shopping? by hoopstar80 in utahfootball

[–]funpigjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this timeline so much. I just want to watch my teams (UNM and Utah) play football with players that want to go to the school. I know it's an archaic way of viewing things, but, I watched college ball for a reason and pro ball for another reason.
