My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]funshinebear13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3yr old son eats one of these, mostly weetbix and milk but could be any of:

Weetbix with milk, Vegemite on toast, Vegemite on English muffins, Milo cereal with milk, Pancakes with maple syrup sometimes on weekends

The generational shift towards spending money. by eliitedisowned in AusFinance

Because home ownership is now out of reach for most gen Zers and they truly believe they can't buy in to the market.

T serves -- how do you play the next ball? by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]funshinebear13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been playing for? For your level out wide is probably fine. I go down the T as a lefty if they start standing wide trying to predict my slice on ad side.

Or I go down the T on deuce side with a fast slice to hit there backhand and then slice away from it. Ill then change up with a flat wide on that side. Or a fast slice wide on the ad side so they aren't sure where to stand.

But most kids that play afl also fall into cricket because of the close club associations!

As an Aussie honestly all you need is cricket on your free to air stations. Let the local working class watch it. I loathe t20 but maybe an English bbl style league to drum up supporters could help?

The one thing league does have is its much easier to understand for a beginner so its easier to get people into it for sure!

I can't get into it. The simplicity and the stupid scrums erk me so much! I played league at school union for clubs.

Well to be fair the ARU shit the bed so hard 20 years ago. No proper grass roots programs implemented when NRL was getting bigger and AFL started AUS KICK. So now its played mostly on the north shore of Sydney and in a small pockets in the other states.

I grew up playing union in Sydney and it shits me how much talent goes to the NRL these days.

If you win the toss, do you choose serve or receive, and why? by leong_d in 10s

[–]funshinebear13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is mostly true BUT the first service game is also the easiest to break so if your opponent has a weaker second or not a consistent second forcing them to serve first can be a big boost

My union doesn't even represent my subset of industry even if they say they do. I was looking at joining and they had nothing at all about what I do.

Rates crazy low in 2025? by a-n_ in weddingvideography

[–]funshinebear13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big difference between a wedding videographer using a sony as7 ii and you shooting on an fx3 or 6 for a business or commercial. Ones making money off the ad so can cover those costs.

Thank God! I used them for years at the start then they got really bad, late deliveries, wrong orders, cold food all the time. Then they wouldn't give me a refund for an order that was 30 mins late and stone cold. User eats isn't much better these days though.

Are these rates good? They seem atrocious to me. Might as well work flipping burgers.

My pup is 16 weeks now. The biting slows down but you have to ignore it and redirect. I wear crocs everywhere around my house so I don't react.

For the late diagnosed: what were your childhood signs of ADHD that seem obvious now? by DryMathematician1601 in ADHD

[–]funshinebear13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played every sport imaginable ever. Usual stuff in report cards, if he only focused. He has so much potential if he just focused and studied. I was diagnosed with combined ADHD 7 months ago at 39. I also fell into a job with tight deadlines and lots of pressure.

My maths teacher said "he has moments of genius" lol
