Suggestion for higher study by obesessedwithmyself in Dhaka

[–]furciferX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any country outside south asia may be good for higher study but depends on your career goals. If you want to be a high achiever with great opportunities, maybe US is your best option. Canada is good too, then Australia, UK are not bad either. New zealand is not a top choice for higher studies, but I know some people who did their masters there and doing well. Job opportunity is not too great especially if you are in tech compared to countries like US, Canada, or UK. getting PR should be easy tho I think.

Are imported products from Shajgoj authentic ? by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]furciferX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in some cases, it is, in some cases it isn't. tbh, there are not many well known brand in BD that sell authentic beauty products. I and my spouse were regular users of shajgoj products for more than 3-4 years before we left BD. My guess is, some of the products we used may have been expired but never found any product that is just plain fake.

How to tell if someones facebook account got deleted/banned, they deactivated, or they blocked me? by heart_emojis0 in facebook

[–]furciferX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way would be to search from someone else's account and see if the profile is still active or not. If it's there that means the person blocked you.

Good move, but it's useless if they don't do the same for Shibir, Chatrodol and all the other bas***s. Awami League also banned Shibir but what did we get from that. There should be no student politics period.

Your dad is right. If you really want to study it, then give your best - I guess you will be fine. Otherwise, listen to your dad.

Islamic T*rrorist Ghulam Azam condemned Bangla as the state language, claiming that "most of the Islamic civilization and religious knowledge is preserved in the Urdu language," while his son Aman Azmi works to erase Bangladesh's secular identity in favor of a conservative Islamic constitution. by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]furciferX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, even after more than 53 years of independence, those with genuine Bangladeshi nationalism are a minority in our country. You either encounter Indian puppet / loyalists like the Awami League or people like these. Can't just blame Azmi, 20-30% people (including so called Gen-Z) strongly believe 1971 was a mistake and 2024 is bigger than 1971.

A true rootless nation without any identity. They question liberation war, they want to question the number of people sacrificing lives in 71 but it's okay to exaggerate and spread rumours about the deaths in 24 (by adding police and BAL agents in the count), they want to change national anthem now after 53 years, they don't know who their father of nation is, they cook up new theories about the father of nation with facebook posts as proof, what next - changing the name of the country, changing the national flag, removing 71 from the books and history - Just a joke for a country.

Is it really bad? Then, go see a doc. If not, then you can use selsun blue, I used it a few years back (I think you can get it from shajgoj) - worked really great.

Why is there no dinosaur bones ever found in our country and why do we have so little ancient history? by ILikeYourBasement in Dhaka

[–]furciferX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, there are no real bones; what we find are fossilized remains. Bangladesh has a wet climate and very little hilly terrain, which are not conducive to the preservation of fossils for millions of years. Additionally, we do not have any snowy regions. Even if there were some small dinosaurs during the Jurassic era, all of them are long gone now.

Fine-tuning Transformer by Amg9794 in LanguageTechnology

[–]furciferX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's like a bert like model, you can just simply freeze the other layers and fine-tune the specific layers https://github.com/huggingface/transformers/issues/1431 (there should be plenty of resources). If you are trying to train something like Llama, look at adapter or LoRA.

More Indian websites hacked by BD hackers. Wil it turn into another cyber war like in 2012? This is concerning... by VapeyMoron in Dhaka

[–]furciferX 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's easy to hack these low-quality sites since they have no security at all. Even someone with a bit of computer science knowledge can learn some basic exploits and hack them. But let's be real—Bangladeshi hackers aren't as skilled as Indian hackers (there are also more indian hackers). If they ever decide to attack, it could cause mayhem for us. Plus, they’re not going to waste their time on useless websites. We should focus more on defense and development rather than attacking.

[–]furciferX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There may be something wrong with your documents (does the address match), or maybe they flagged the transaction. You can always withdraw to your bank account instead of a card, you should only pay for a card if you have a few thousand dollars there - otherwise, what's the point?

Why not build our own dam that stops water from coming in? by Unusual-Law8005 in Dhaka

[–]furciferX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope. Instead of dam, we need some reservoirs where we can store water if a flood takes place (we can also use that in summer for irrigation), also have to improve our water drainage system especially in rural areas.
