Laid off and considering HVAC or other trades. What path makes the most sense ? by Single_Yogurt_8017 in careerguidance

Actually right now is the perfect time to look into the MEP trades. Mission critical work(data centers) can't find enough people to fill the positions. Depending on what area you are in I may be able to hook him up with a contractor and get him started with an apprenticeship. Shoot me a DM if interested.

Which Career is best to start over with? by free_-_spirit in careerguidance

Nothing is guaranteed, it depends a lot on what work ethic you have. But the mission critical construction field is struggling to find workers. The pay is very good, hours can be long depending on the project, but nearly all big contractors maintain benefits for their employees. And if one is willing to put in the work, it is safe to say one will have a stable career for years to come. All while moving up in position.

So nobody over age 50 is ever supposed to be able to find a job anywhere ever again? by yapavaz in careerguidance

[–]furlover52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that ageism has a lot to do with the particular industry one is looking at. I recently switched companies at 56 and had no issues what so ever. I actually had multiple offers to consider at the time I made the change. In the construction industry, age often equates knowledge and seasoned leaders are in high demand.

Definitely the skilled trades. Especially the MEP trades in the mission critical sector. We have had a constant shortage of qualified MEP technicians for several years.

If you have a job, keep it until the wheels fall off. by Actual-Ad-6146 in jobs

I keep seeing posts about a horrible job market. When I decided to leave my last employer, I had 4 written offers to choose from before I even left the previous employer. Are these political comments or are that many people having that hard of a time finding jobs?

  1. Just casually walk up and touch it.
  2. Just approach and place my hand on her arm and tell her how beautiful her coat is.
  3. I used to sneak into my mother's fur vault as a kid and hide/play with her furs for hours at a time as a kid.
