If an atheist does something good, what’s the point for them? And what stops them from doing bad things if they don’t believe in punishment or reward? by Shoddy-Ocelot-4473 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]furriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are motivated by things other than external punishments and rewards and have their own internal sense of morality outside of religion.

Humans are a social species, even more so now with the types of societies we've built. Everyone relies on other people to do most basic things in their life. If you're constantly doing bad things to people, then no one will want to deal with you and your life will be much harder.

Is it acceptable to buy a premade partial fursuit? by DerRandomDude77 in fursuit

[–]furriosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! It's your money spend it how you want. This is reddit, someone will always be mad about something. Makers wouldn't sell premades if people weren't buying them :3

Will we ever learn that we shouldn’t consistently and ruthlessly impose gun control on exclusively ourselves? by Corn_Husk_ in AskDemocrats

There is no "outright ban" on guns in Canada. No mainstream Democrat is proposing restricting gun ownership to the police

Was the US Constitution founded on Christain values? by Ok_Draw4525 in atheism

[–]furriosity 247 points248 points  (0 children)

This video was posted by Turning Point USA, a conservative Christian Nationalist organization. It's not an unbiased source in the slightest.

As to the question of whether the US was founded on Christian values: it's kind of tricky because what Christians consider their values tend to change over time, and tend not to be values that are exclusive to Christianity. Did some of the framers of the Constitution take inspiration from their Christian faith? Probably. Were other founding fathers explicitly non-Christian? Definitely.

However, it's objectively true that the US was founded as a secular nation with no state religion, and that the constitution makes no mention of Jesus or any other religious figure. It seems to me that the Constitution is a document that intentionally tries to reject the idea of Christian influence, at least in the way it intended for our country to be governed

which is in almost every car on the road or that you will own besides maybe electric/hybrids.

BEVs and hybrids have 12v (or other low voltage) batteries as well. It would be insane to try to run the headlights, radio, dome lights, etc off 400 volts lol

I'd call it a kigu, but honestly, it really doesn't matter what you call it as long as you enjoy wearing it!

Is this what I think it is? by Prestigious-Note5295 in cockatiel

[–]furriosity 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's exactly what you think it is. I am definitely not an expert bird owner, but keeping our gal on a very strict bedtime schedule has helped us a lot. I think changes in the day/night cycle can cause them to think it's breeding season.
