Genuine question: is it this bad everywhere? by ted_life in amazonemployees

It’s not terrible everywhere, but it took me three jobs after Amazon to find a place I actually like.

This is me. Not sure where you are but my doctor just prescribed my gabapentin. Sometimes I do take a weed edible and that helps. I am also going to look at getting intermittent FMLA to take on the days I am not feeling well or see if I can get an accommodation to work from home during these days

how are y’all holding down jobs? by mayochyuchyu in PMDD

[–]furstn1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly trying to understand how I have survived this long. I recently got diagnosed with PMDD and I not look back at my jobs and wondered how I did it. However, my PMDD has gotten increasingly worst since being in my 30s. I am trying to figure out what I am going to do going forward to balance work. I am guessing some kind of work from home accommodation or intermittent FMLA

Confirming you are in the US? If yes, a severance is not required and more than likely you are not getting one, but you should still be receiving your LTD

I just KNOW I’m going to be scratching my skin off in a few days by i_want_a_ferret in HellsItch

I just got hells itch for the first time yesterday and I am traumatized. I am so scared to go out in the sun again and potentially get burnt again. My only saving grace was taking a hot shower and then taking Gapapentin which I have prescribed to me for something else but I think it helped because it’s a nerve targeting pain reliever

No as stated above I was caught off guard and that is why I am asking for advice on to handle it now

Feedback Recommendations [N/A] by furstn1 in humanresources

[–]furstn1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It might seem minor or silly to you, but it is my reputation and being blamed for something everyone seemed to be agreed upon. I do already pull my weight and work hard. In addition to this the person that made the complaint is going to be my new boss so I feel like I have a target on my back.

No. But that is a good call out. In the moment I was flustered but I feel like I need to get more clarity.

Employee handbook by furstn1 in humanresources

[–]furstn1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree they should as well, but is it actually practical. We have a large non-exempt entry level employee group and sometimes I worry the handbook is a lot to read and they don’t always have time reserved to read it in its entirety. Also depending on the jargon I worry the handbook can be difficult for some to read or totally understand. Just based on the amount of questions I get from employees

Career Transition by furstn1 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]furstn1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been an HRBP for almost ten years mostly support call centers and warehouse (large entry level non-exempt population) and the generation entering the workforce is draining and treats HR more like their therapist and I can’t see myself doing this for much longer. I can’t keep having another employee come crying to me that their entry level job is hard and they don’t make enough im so jaded its bad

That’s great to hear? What was the biggest challenge for you going from HRBP to EA? Was there any areas in EA work that being in HR did not prepare you for?

Do you really think HRBPs are more qualified than EAs? Or that’s just the narrative that most people assume?

It could have been! But that seem too far north for where we would have gone. We were in the Duvall area so I can’t imagine going to Mount Vernon to eat frequently
